Why isn't it possible to lower TCP values of running SSH session?
I am running OpenSSH_6.7p1 on Slackware 14.1 x64. I haven't modified a stock config. On Linux TCP timeouts are controlled by these 3 files: $ cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_keepalive_time \ > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_keepalive_intvl \ > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_keepalive_probes 7200 75 9 These are their default values. PGP On Centos
Hey I need to run some pgp commands, -what's the name of the package supported by Centos that will allow me to work with pgp? I need to run pgp --fingerprint key.name or it's equivalent. Pro question. Google searches didn't show much, tried to search for pgp, gnupg, openpgp, pgp on centos, openpgp on centos, centos/pgp. No worthy results came back. Any advice? -karlski

Vsftpd & Iscsi - fast enough
To extend space on our 64-bit centos FTP servers, we are considering setting them up to work with an existing PromiseRAID system via iscsi. -just curious if anyone here knows if iScsi is fast enough to serve up all the images? -might it be something where we get dedicated cards and put the iScsi traffic on its own Vlan? Just curious if this would hold up under alot of traffic, like weather

ISPConfig: Secure on Centos?
Just wanted to see if this tool was approved or disapproved of in the centos community as far as security is concerned. http://www.ispconfig.org/ I have noted that anything that is not a centos package is probably suspect, -so feel free to assure, or warn, at your leisure. Basically we are looking for a secure GUI based DNS admin tool, (I myself prefer an openbsd or centos dns machine and tyo

AMD 64 - I20/ I20_blocks
I'm trying to install either 32-bit or 64 bit centos 4.3 and I keep getting an error: "No valid devices were found on which to install filesystems". In checking BIOS and RAID, everything seems fine, but I just found some research about I20. An alternative would be the i2o_blocks module. How can I install CentOS 4.3 x86_64 using i2o_blocks? How do I instruct the boot prompt to

64-bit ISO Burning Failures
Hi, I have downloaded several different sets of the 64-bit ISOs, and have burned them to CD using various of my known-good ISO burning softwares, including Nero and DeepBurn on Windows, as well as the native CD burning KDE linux tool on Xandros Linux. I am using mirrors from the site, like kernel.org. I have chosen low burning speeds also, but when I insert the ISO CD into a server and boot it

Tripwire for CentOS
Hi, I literally have about 36 machines running CentOS on a private network, and will probably change the remaining 30 or so away from Whitebox or RH in the near term. One thing I just noticed was when I tried to search out Tripwire RPM's, that none seemed evident. Can anyone point me in the direction of an Tripwire RPM that works with CentOS 4.3, or advise me on how to create one from the

OT: Measure 2U Server Amp Usage
Hi, Running a bunch of CentOS servers on 2U supermicro equipment, usually with 8 drives on Adaptec SmartRAID V or LSI Megaraid. In designing a rack in a data center, the question arises as to how to measure the amperage the server uses, prior to investing in power drops that actually do that for you, even remotely, for about $260.00-300USD per unit. This number is the important one these days

Help needed with NFS issue
I have four NFS servers running on Dell hardware (PE2900) under CentOS 5.7, x86_64. The number of NFS clients is about 170. A few days ago, one of the four, with no apparent changes, stopped responding to NFS requests for two minutes every half an hour (approx). Let's call this "the hang". It has been doing this for four days now. There are no log messages of any kind pertaining

Centos-specific Denyhosts Howto Anyone?
Hi, after reading the docs (no man page) and seeing a few example howtos, I see none for Centos specifically. I hereby offer to write this and even host it, and any other wiki-able howto you want, if you can school me on the first few steps relevant to how to link up the current rpmforge rpm for RHEL4-64. See, right now, the one for centos loads into the /usr/share/doc, which is an odd place
