Native Extensions on Windows 0.10 series
Hi all,
I''ve just noticed that 0.10 is out and wanted to give it a try on windows.
I''m not at all an VS C++ Developer so I might do something very stupid here.
My env: Windows Server 2003
VS .NET 2003
On the command line with nmake from VC7 in the path this is what I get:

New to list -- glennrp
Hello, speexers.
I'm new to the list and new to audio compression. I've been asked to
look into creating a digital archive of 20-minute speeches (sermons)
and speex seems to be what I need.
My experience is in image compression; I shepherded gzip, deflate, zlib,
and png through the IETF process, put "image/png" through
the IANA registration process, and I maintain several

get the mode from a incoming speex stream
In a "normal" frame that doesn't have in-band signalling (which nobody
seems to use anyway), the frame starts with the narrowband information.
If the frame is in wideband, then this will be followed by a bit of
wideband information that starts with a bit set to 1 (narrowband starts
with a bit set to 0). Have a look at what the Speex decoder does. You
may actually want to have similar

Abuot the Bug of Speex 1.2beta1
Dear Sir/Miss:
I'm very sorry to bother you,but I've found a bug
in the Speex,Version 1.2beta1,and also I've have some
questions.
I'm deeply impressed by the work you have done in
the coding and decoding of speech signal.But when
using speex,I encoutered a bug,that is when in 32K
mode,the window size is still 200 samples,but not 400
samples,the bug will bring the problem of

DC++ crashes with current CVS wine
Hi!
I have a problem, that DC++ client now crashes in wine. The problem is that it
crashes using its own exception handler, from the wine's point of view the app
is running OK. The client simply pops up a dialog box saying that it just
crashed and the debug info is placed in a file called exceptioninfo.txt. OK, the
file is really there and it really shows something important:
Code: c0000005

I think you might (no guaranty) have a better chance of getting help if
your error messages are in a language people on this list understand.

Big GAP of speex MCPS on arm CPU and RVDS simulator
Hi all Speexers,
I've done some optimization to current SVN fixed-point on ARM9E platform.
If the RVDS simulator gives the MCPS(Million Cycle Per Second) value A,
then actual MCPS on real CPU will be around 2*A.
I don't know what cause the big gap between the simulator and real CPU.
What do you think?

Lianghu

frame size in speex
Dear Speexers :-)
I am trying to change the frame size from 20 ms to 10 ms, I did that by
changing the value of the frame_size from 160 samples, to 80 samples in
the sampleenc.c file. The number of frames increased as expected, but the
size of the encoded stream of each frame remain the same! For example, if
I use quality mode # 8 (corresponds to 15 kbps), the encoded streams size
in bytes equals

Right.
But a decoder like speex can always be configured from information
contained in the incoming stream.
That makes your application more interroperable.

Using VC8/VS2005 command line compiler on wine
Hi all!
Does anyone successfully use the VC8/VS2005 command line tools (cl.exe
and link.exe) with wine yet?
I'm trying to setup VC8 in our cross compiling environment (which
already works perfectly with VC7), but have some problems here.
After some tries, I can now run cl.exe with wine to compile our sources
(although some command line parameters cause the program to crash, but
that's not

I'm attaching the cvs diff -u version of them (I've read Reid Spencer
post about it)

[LLVMdev] Visual C++ Toolkit
Hi,
Have you tried the new VC8 Beta? It's been out for less than 2 weeks:
http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/visualc/default.aspx
It's supposed to have improved standards compliance.

Sanity re-checked
Hi all,
Windows 2000
VC++ 6
Well, it turns out I''m not insane. The rb_class_new_instance() chokes with
RC9. However, when I rolled back to RC7, it worked fine.
So, either something is broken in RC9 or this is some sort of VC6 vs VC7
issue.
Can anyone else confirm?

Probleme with bitrate when encoding small files
Hello,
We found a problem that we are not sure who is responsible.
Here is what we found:
On some small file (around 1 sec) if we ask to compress the file at
128kb/s
On an encoder compiled with Microsoft visual 7.1 it generate a file at
160kb/s (that is the behaviour we expect because of the short length of
the file)
On same encoder compiled with Microsoft visual 8.0 with the same
parameter it

ov_open throws exception (Compiler VC7)
Hi
I try to load an ogg file with the vorbisfile library like this:
FILE *f = fopen("test.ogg", "rb");
if(!f) ...;
ov_open(f, &vf, 0, 0);
But ov_open always throws an exception. Im pretty sure its a compiler
problem because the same code worked on VC6. Im compiling my programm with
the multithreaded dll option as mentioned on the mailing list bevor.
Does anybody know if
