re: decoder issue in sb_celp
A little more info on this: I backtracked deeper into this and it looks like excBuf is corrupted, which is corrupted by low_innov_alias being invalid. However it is not entirely clear where that gets initialized (in sb_celp it is set to out+st->frame_size) Tom

Bug from revision 9316: SB_ENC_STACK misdefined
Revision 9316 introduced SB_ENC_STACK and friends, but misdefines SB_ENC_STACK to be too small, resulting in quite noticable artifacts in wideband mode as well as memory corruption and a crash (sooner or later). The patch below should return SB_ENC_STACK to be equal to what it replaced. Index: sb_celp.c =================================================================== --- sb_celp.c

VAD performance worse on version 1.2rc1 than 1.1.12
Hi Cecile, it seems it is a tabu theme, or nobody uses VAD on speex. I've tried with external EasyVAD solution but the result was not as spected. Other users of the list suggest an algorithm to filter voice based on the power of the signal, but of course, it is not a voice activity detection. I am waiting also a solution for this, while so I use version 1.1.12. Regards. Cecile Dumotier

SV: How to detect SpeexBits corruption
Jean-Marc, I hate to say such things about Speex, especially when I've been unable to make such problems consistently reproducible. It takes a great deal of patience and effort to track down a rarely occurring problem like this in a production VOIP system. I ended up solving my problems by being more careful with the input to the encoder and switching to an SVN version of Speex. This

VAD performance worse on version 1.2rc1 than 1.1.12
Thank you, but I am thinking about trying to move VAD implementation from 1.1.12 to 1.2. I'm not sure about how difficult it could be (maybe impossible due to Jean Marc has disappear). Have you tried this? Cecile. 2009/8/10 jesus <jmorion at toomeeting.com> > Hi Cecile, > > it seems it is a tabu theme, or nobody uses VAD on speex. I've tried > with external EasyVAD

bad VAD in preprocessor of version 1.2beta1
Hello, first of all, sorry for the joke in the subject ;-) I have successfully update the speex library my software was using from 1.1.12 to 1.2beta1 (1.1.13). It is a VoIP software, where i set preprocessor VAD on and use the result of speex_preprocess() to determine if there is voice activity. I must say that it works fine...since i have update to the new version. Ive been testing, and

SV: How to detect SpeexBits corruption
You might not be doing anything wrong. Speex is stateful and can get into a bad state sometimes. It's happened to me too, but not recently. And I've seen such bugs reported on this list and fixed. I suggest several approaches to solving the problem: 1) Try compiling Speex without compiler optimizations and see if the problem still occurs. Most likely it will, but this is an

Manual scratch allocation : memory usage doubt
Hi, I am currently encoding 32 Khz/Qual-10/UWB encode mode, with MANUAL_ALLOC enabled ( similar to the c5x/c6x configuration). In file sb_celp.c, I noticed the scratch memory grow during recursive (UWB -> WB) calls to 'sb_encode'. 1. 'stack' was not tracked (with 'tmp_stack' as done at other palaces) after/before - auto-correlation/Levinson-Durbin scope (~line

Re: Problem with Blackfin assembly optimizations -- bug in fixed_bfin.h / resampler saturation???
Hi Jean-Marc, after some problems with getting svn to work here I finally made it. Problem is, you write that I cannot use libspeex and libspeexdsp at the same time now -- because I use a "live" system (mic-in -> speex_enc -> speex_dec -> headphone out) and I can run the AD1836 audio codec on 48 kHz only, I cannot use my program now (because I use speex resampling...) So I

Coredumps when --enable-sse is selected
System: Linux 2.4.25, glibc-2.3.2, gcc-3.2.3 (weird palindrome there), on a Williamette core Pentium 4 (1.6Ghz) system. I've tried both speex 1.1.5 release, and the current CVS (which self-IDs as 1.1.4), and the result is the same. I suspect some funk in the use of the SSE intrinsics macros.
