Problems with stereo data
Hi all,
I have a problem when I am encoding (or decoding) stereo audio.
With mono data, things are fine and everything works without any problems.
When I try to decode stereo data, all I get is a static sound - similar to that of a radio not tuned to any specific station. I wonder what might be wrong?
Below is the code, first, of the encoder and next that of the decoder. Any information or

Error when compiling FFmpeg with speex-git.
Hi
With 32-bit Xubuntu-14.04.
When I compile FFmpeg from git using speex-1.2rc1 it builds OK.
When I compile FFmpeg from git using speex-git it fails to build. (speex-HEAD-78cce67)
It's not a big deal, I don't mind using speex-1.2rc1.
But am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with speex-git?

GCC/ELF Visibility patch
Hi,
I've attached a patch against SVN r14645 which adds GCC visibility
information to all symbols exported from libspeex.so and libspeexdsp.so.
It includes a configure.ac change to test that both the compiler flags and
__attribute__((visibility)) works, and if so will
#define EXPORT __attribute__((visibility("default")))
and if not
#define EXPORT
I've attached a diff output

speexdec 1.2.3
Dear Jean-Marc and Peter:
Thank you both very much for your time and advice. I did not realize that Lame MP3 code has a -r option (without reading its code). I have tried the suggested command lines verbatim with the added -r option, along with other combination of option settings. I could not figure out how to eliminate the distortion in the result, like voice turning either high or low

[PATCH] symbian port
hi Jean-Marc,
I just updated from svn and it looks like there are some errors in the speex.mmp
file. the filters.c is duplicated, and the fft/kiss.c files are still missing..

SPEEX_SET_USER_HANDLER once again
Hi,
Sorry! Marc Gimpel. I wrote it in a false thread before. It was my
first time. :-)
I have to write a small programm which should be able to record speeches
and in addition synchronize the recorded speeches with measuring data.
My idea is to record the speech in the normal way with speex and without
ogg. If a sync message was received, i write a custom in-band messages
using mode 13

Framesize for UWB vs. WB encoding

Hmm, the call to speex_encode_stereo() takes the frame size as an an
argument
- and this call generates bits ;) So possibly my bitrate table shows wrong
values in the stereo cases. Hmm...

compiling ffmpeg with --enable-libspeex (was Re: from Adobe Flex / Flash Player 10 .flv Speex via Red5 to .wav PCM?)
I am having trouble compiling ffmpeg to support speex, which didn't
work with the ubuntu libspeex-dev package, but looks like it might
with the Speex version 1.2rc1 tarball from http://speex.org/downloads/
How do I tell ffmpeg's configure and/or make to use the 1.2rc1 version
of libspeex in /usr/local/include instead of the older debian/ubuntu
libspeex-dev package in /usr/include/speex?

To symbian and speex developers! Building instructions
Hello to everyone!
During building speex library for Symbian OS I encountered some problems. All thess problems can be solved by modifying the speex sources. I don't have access to SVN repository of speex, so I will just describe the changes to be done:
1) mmp file in symbian derictory misses windows.c sources. You need to add this string into speex.mmp:
SOURCES windows.c
2) Symbian OS

Please test upcoming release
Hi
I have tested speex from svn trunk r11792, here are my
findings:
* Builds ok for Symbian, with 1 warning (patch to fix this
this attached.) - not tested on hardware
* Builds ok for Ubuntu 6.06 (AMD64), although there are
some issues with 'make -j4' (try it). Runs fine on
AMD64 (64-bit mode), tested 8000Hz and 32000Hz
* Stereo encoding/decode goes at half the frequency, but

SPEEX_SET_USER_HANDLER once again
Hi,
I think what happened is that you did not write the "message" length.
With user-callbacks, you also need to say how large the message. The
size is in bytes and encoded in 4 bits.
Besides, you're probably the first one to use user-callbacks. BTW, why
didn't you want to use Ogg. It's much simpler to use and overhead can be
made minimal anyway.

[PATCH] bug in sample code sampledec.c
Hi
there is a small bug in the sample code 'sampledec.c' here:
http://www.speex.org/manual2/node12.html#SECTION000121000000000000000
it is trying to destroy the encoder of the "decoder" state, this
patch should fix it:

Framesize for UWB vs. WB encoding
Hi there.
I am having a little trouble understanding the frame sizes chosen
by the codec.
testenc_uwb.c from the speex-1.0 source distribution has a framesize
of 640 hardcoded and makes use of this value exclusively.
However, a mode query on the actual codec returns 320 as a framesize
for this mode.
int tmp;
speex_mode_query(&speex_uwb_mode, SPEEX_MODE_FRAME_SIZE, &tmp);

speed and memory
hello,
i switched to use the encoder.processData() and
encoder.getProcessedData() of jspeex. however it looks to me like a
memory leak ... memory usage is increasing very fast and there is no
visible stop ... after about five minutes java.lang.OutOfMemory occurs.
I think it must be the jspeex component, because before i added jspeex
to my app usage was constant at about 5mb.
is it possible
