HW-Speex: Fileformat and encoding process
Hi
I have just written a small c programm which reads in speex files and outputs
them as asci text numbers. This is necessary as for writing a hw testbench
for decoding tests, since thy only read ascii files :-(.I can't read the
bitrate properly from the header file. It's allways -1. Please see example
below and attached c programm. I wan't to check for a fixed bitrate (8000).

Single frame or multiple frame inside rtp packet?
Hi,
Sorry if my question not related to speex.
I have created a voip application using speex. My
internet line is 64Kbps.
I`m using narrow band mode, 8000 bitrate, 20ms of
8000Khz sampling rate, no buffering, no preprocessing,
just set bitrate and go.
When i send single frame inside rtp the sound was not
good, choppy and noisy. But when i pack around 8 frame
inside rtp packet, the sound was

speexdec 1.2.3
Dear Jean-Marc and Peter:
Thank you both very much for your time and advice. I did not realize that Lame MP3 code has a -r option (without reading its code). I have tried the suggested command lines verbatim with the added -r option, along with other combination of option settings. I could not figure out how to eliminate the distortion in the result, like voice turning either high or low

exit status 12 when transferring a large file
--- Erhalten von ZBM.ZARBR 089/32000-545 24-02-03 12.07
Hi,
I mirror a server installation using rsync 2.5.6 (on both sides) with these
options:
-a -x --numeric-ids -H --delete --stats -e ssh -z --exclude-from ...
This happens every night. In about 80% of the cases rsync returns exit
status 12 when trying to transfer a certain file. In the other 20% the file

Smbpasswd to LDAP migration
I have a Samba PDC running on Redhat 7.3 (samba 3.0.0 installed from
binaries). I initially set it up using smbpasswd as the database
backend and everything was working just fine.
I've since decided to migrate everything to LDAP. I have OpenLDAP
2.0.27 installed and have set up the directory following the
instructions in the Samba-HOWTO-Collection. If I use slapadd to add
Samba users, they

Wierd Roaming Profile Error
I have a Redhat 7.3 server running Samba-3.0.0 installed from the
binary RPM's. It's acting as a PDC with Roaming profiles. I'm not
certain if what I'm seeing is actually an error or not, but perhaps
someone can shed a little light on what exactly it is that I'm seeing
here.
I have a WinXP Pro machine that I will log into with my domain
username and password. My roaming

metadata
I think I'm going to regret asking this, but is there
any more information on Ogg metadata other than what's
at <http://wiki.xiph.org/Metadata>? Is there a more
appropriate list for discussing it? I'm sending this
to the vorbis list because ogg-dev seems to see very
little traffic, and none of the others seems to be
very relevant (this happens to be the one I'm subscribed

smbmount of XP share results in Permission Denied
Mark Hessling posted about this problem earlier but I (and he) have not
seen any reply to his original post.
I was running Samba 3.0.0 on a Redhat 7.3 server for quite a while and
then recently upgraded to RHEL 3.0 and Samba 3.0.9 (3.0.10 most
recently). Before the upgrade, I was able to, from the Samba server,
mount shares from an XP box. After the upgrade, the mount succeeds (it

Revert to R 3.2.x code of logicalSubscript in subscript.c?
Currently, in function 'logicalSubscript' in subscript.c, the case of no recycling is handled like the implentation of R function 'which'. It passes through the data only once, but uses more memory. It is since R 3.3.0. For the case of recycling, two passes are done, first to get number of elements in the result.
Also since R 3.3.0, function 'makeSubscript' in subscript.c

A Tribute to my Great Grandmother (Off Topic)
I realize this is off-topic, but I need to post it.
I had to go up to Connecticut on January the 12th quite unexpectedly
because my great-grandmother Ethel, someone I was very close to, died
that morning, at 93 years old. She was an incredible woman. I was
asked to be one of the pallbearers.
Her ultimate goal in life, and one she fulfilled every day, was to
make people laugh. She truly

MSDFS redirection WinXP SP2
I am currently having problems accesing our samba msdfs shares from
Windows XP SP2, Windows 2000 and WinXP SP1 seem unaffected. I have
attached the smb.conf and the exports files that define the shares.
Running ethereal on the different clients seems to point to the fact
that XP SP2 no longer seems to be using the netbios-ssn (139) port. for
GET_DFS_REFERRAL instead its using microsoft-ds

If muxed with a video, it's insignificant (well, for my test cases).

ogg and keyframes
Hi,
When doing a live ogg+theora stream on our server we ran into the
following problem: When a client connects we send out the theora header
pages followed by the actual live stream pages. The problem is that the
first ogg data page does not have the right page number (2), which
causes libogg to not want to decode the first _packet_ of that page.
Since that first packet happens to contain the

How do I seek back to the beginning of a speex file?
Okay, I feel really stupid here but I've been unable to figure out
how to easily seek within a speex file so that playback starts from
the beginning. I've scoured the mailing lists for solutions and the
best that I could come up with was to see what libvorbis was doing
when it performed a seek inside of an ogg stream but it looked rather
complicated for what I want to do. Does
