HW-Speex: Fileformat and encoding process
Hi I have just written a small c programm which reads in speex files and outputs them as asci text numbers. This is necessary as for writing a hw testbench for decoding tests, since thy only read ascii files :-(.I can't read the bitrate properly from the header file. It's allways -1. Please see example below and attached c programm. I wan't to check for a fixed bitrate (8000).

RTP profile draft!
Hi Jean-Marc and list, I'm trying to negotiate speex with SIP/SDP and get some trouble understanding the "mode" parameter: mode: Speex encoding mode. Can be {1,2,3,4,5,6,any} defaults to 3 in narrowband, 6 in wide and ultra-wide. Is mode equivalent to the "quality" parameter of speex? In this case, I don't understand why mode is not from 1 to 10... Just

Speex configuration
Hi, I'm trying to cover all Speex configuration options to set quality/mode/bitrate in my application and I was wondering if the following all makes sense: - abr_bitrate - use average bitrate and set it using bitrate parameter - SPEEX_SET_ABR - cbr_bitrate - use constant bitrate and set it using bitrate parameter - SPEEX_SET_BITRATE - cbr_mode - use constant bitrate and

Speex 1.0 RC3 is out
Hi, Just to let you know that Speex 1.0 RC3 is out. It should be the last RC until 1.0 is released (tentative release date is March 16th). Please give RC3 a try and report bugs so they can be fixed before 1.0. As usual, download from http://www.speex.org/download.html Jean-Marc -- Jean-Marc Valin, M.Sc.A. Speex codec for 8Kbps setting ?
Hi, I am looking how to setup speex codec in codecs.conf for 8 Kbps and 6 Kbps. In config file are many parameters for setting. I don't know what is need to change for narrowbad like 8 Kbps and 6 kbps. Any suggestion? [speex] ;0-10 quality => 4 ;0-10 complexity => 4 ; true / false enhancement => true ; true / false vad => false ; true / false vbr => false ; 0 = off, otherwise,

Speex modes
Hi, I'm about finished developing a QuickTime component that supports Speex (on MacOS X and Windows).. As it is now the user can set complexity (SPEEX_SET_COMPLEXITY) and quality (SPEEX_SET_QUALITY / SPEEX_SET_VBR_QUALITY) and to wether to use VBR or not. Will these options make it possible to produce all combinations of bitrates/qualities? Or should I also use

About reducing noise..
Hello, When I decode a recoded sound encoded by speex, it has too much noise. The noise is "slightly" reduced if I set the quality to 10. How do I get rid of this noise? The code is as follows. For encoding . state = speex_encoder_init ( &speex_nb_mode ); tmp = 7; speex_encoder_ctl ( state, SPEEX_SET_MODE, &tmp); // set quality tmp = 10; speex_encoder_ctl ( state,

Get message "cannot do complex assignments in base namespace" error
I am constantly running into the problem where I get error messages like "cannot do complex assignments in base namespace". It might have something to do with the fact that R has not started up completely, since I am trying to run some R script using Rterm < Rscript.R. When I perform the same script in a Interactive R session, the R script has no problem with the assignments that it

Ongoing calls interface
I'm currently working on a PHP web interface to show (1) the registered endpoints and (2) their status: available, outgoing call or incoming call. (In the future, this interface should also be able to redirect calls etc.) (1) The interface already shows a list of all registered endpoints. For this, I had to work around Asterisk's delay in monitoring when an endpoint is unregistered. What

great idea for jitter buffer
The receiver could send the packet list that the he lost directly via p2p to the clients. 1. it isnt much data to send. 2. you safe the way throught servers. Now the sender sends the data again to the server. Or if it isnt much to send he could send it directly.... How about that? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Problems converting output from Sweave to PDf
I am having trouble converting the output from Sweave into a valid PDF file. I have created a simple .Rnw file which will become a full vignette at some point, but during the intermediate testing, I got errors from texi2dvi. This is what I have done. 0) Using a Windows Xp system 1) Created a file called GeneSpring.Rnw 2) Convert this to Tex using Sweave("GeneSpring.Rnw") from within R

Question about UWB
Hi all, One question that I hope someone on the list just knows the answer to without having to delve too deeply into the code: How does UWB mode divvy up the bandwidth and pack it in the bitstream? I know from the documentation that WB mode codes the first 0-4K kHz band as a Narrowband packet, and then adds on the 4-8 kHz band coded separately (so that a NB decoder can decode a WB bitstream

frame size
Hi, Can someone please tell me how should I go about changing the frame size which is hardcoded to 160 for NB and WB and 320 for UWB. For NB speech(8KHz) the framesize of 160 is 20ms frame but for WB and UWB its 10ms. What are the parameters being affected by simply changing the framesize and sub-frame size in "modes.c" How to change the buffer size and how its affected. can we have a

Shoehorning speex is confusing a newbie
This is going to take some explaining and I apologize in advance if any of this is found in the manual or sample code but I couldn't find it. I just graduated last may and this is my first experience with vocoders and dissecting a professional's code. I work for a company that is currently using a G729A vocoder from a 3rd party software company and is looking into speex so they no

Delays estimation in Speex algorithms
Speex tells me that the decoder is always 5 ms, but it says that the encoder is 5 ms for NB, 8.9375 ms for WB, and 10.90625 ms for UWB. Is there an extra frame of delay in the encoder that isn't otherwise accounted for? Delays estimation in Speex algorithms
JM, I also need to know the precise delays from Speex but I used the SPEEX_GET_LOOKAHEAD control requests to determine them (plus the "speex_resampler_get_output_latency" function from the resampler). The returned values from the Speex lookahead request don't seem to match with the values you gave Alexander. Am I doing this wrong? Thanks, John Ridges speex-dev-request at

ultra wide band packet questions
Hi Jean Marc and List, So I have started finally fiddling around with Ultra-wideband mode. It appears to be very similar in operation to Wide mode, except that when peering into the packet structure it looks like (and these are kind of questions as much as statements here): 1. update rate 0 is not used in UWB- only 1-4? 2. The total bits used for each UWB update rate seem to be as follows:
