speex 1.2beta1 encoding/decoding clicking noise on WM2003
Would it help if I scale the input wav data before encoding to spx? One interesting thing is if I encode the same wav file to spx(or decode the same spx file to wav ) on Windows platform, then there is no such big clicking noise, samething is true if I use floating_point speex library to encode/decode on WM2003. Problem happens only on WM2003 using FIXED_POINT library.
Thanks

speex 1.2beta1 encoding/decoding clicking noise on WM2003
I am running speex 1.2beta1 on WM2003 using FIXED_POINT option, I got big
clicking noise during encoding or decoding randomly, I got more noise if I
spoke louder or made the MIC sensitivity higher, for example, when I encode
the wav file to spx file, the original saved wav file does not have such
noise, the noise is added only after it's converted to spx format. The
floating point version of

Hello Carl,
Can you send me libspeex compilated in eVC. And can you describe where and how set the FIXED_POINT flag in eVC.
Thanks you.

white noise problem when using -DFIXED_POINT
Hi there. We're trying to build a speex decoder for Palm OS (i.e. ARM7).
No major problems porting thus far, but when compiling the speex modules with -DFIXED_POINT all the silent parts of the output are replaced with what sounds like high-power white noise. The spoken parts sound great, but all the silent parts in between speaking just sounds like white noise.
We're using speex 1.1.6,

Help about error in linking to libspeex.a
Hi All,
i have configured speex1.2rc1 for xscale-elf (ARM architecture) ,then executed MAKE and MAKE INSTALL. so, i obtained libspeex.a in the /usr/local/lib with libogg.a compiled as well. but i when i link the library to my program (by adding LDFLAGS += -lspeex -lm ), and try to compile, i get this error:
/usr/lib/gcc/xscale-elf/3.4.3/../../../../xscale-elf/bin/ld: cannot find -lspeex

Thanks for the reply,

i am trying to guess what is missed to correctly link to the lib .Do you have suggestions?

white noise problem when using -DFIXED_POINT
It seems that with the file I posted, the decode noise persists all the way back to 1.1.1, when using --enable-fixed-point.
When we configure with --enable-fixed-point-debug, the decode seems to be correct, even on 1.1.6.
Hope this helps, and thanks for your time!

Owen

Re: speex 1.1.4 compile fails/vq.h parse error
It's not really documented, but when you compile with --enable-sse, you
need to add -march=pentium3 to the compile switches. That's actually a
gcc requirement.

Using speex on ARM7TDMI...
Hi,
I'm evaluating the libspeex library for usage in an embedded platform
based on an ARM7 TDMI micro (the ubiquitous Atmel AT91SAM7S).
In details, I'm trying to use libspeex to encode the audio stream
coming into the micro from an I2S channel and saving the encoded audio
to an SD card (currently in binary format just to test it decoded back
to the I2S channel from the saved file), but

Problem with Win32 libraries
Hi
I downloaded Speex 1.0.1 and I am not able to compile the source files (examples)
speexenc.c and speexdec.c
What are the libraries needed to run the above examples ?
I am using VC++ 6.0 /Win XP.
I addes ogg.lib and libspeex.lib files.
do I need to any more lib files ?
Please advise.
Regards
Ravi.

How to get podcasters to adopt Speex?
This is a really good point, and definitely a recurring theme on this
mailing list. :) I wonder, what are some better options for handling
this issue, other than to keep saying "just use 8/16/32kHz"?
- Extend Speex to support other sample rates (seems unlikely..?)
- Integrate a resampling algorithm into libspeex
- Maintain a list of recommended resampling libraries that work well

size speex file encoded
Hi,
I am working with libspeex api. I would like compare the size of speex file
encoded with libspeex and the size of speex file encoded with speexenc.
For example, I encode with speexenc (narrowband, quality 1) a wav file of
1.43 MB (17 seconds) output a spx file weight 21KB, for other hand I encode
with libspeex the same wav file with same characteristics in arm processor,
pocket pc and the

http://www.ivo.pl/ivo2/sound/krwawa_fixed.wav
http://www.ivo.pl/ivo2/sound/krwawa_float.wav
krwawa_org.wav is original file.
Both output files was created using same program by compressing from wav
to speex, then decompressing from speex to wav (using speex_encode_int
and speex_decode_int).
Only difference was used speex

Sorry, been busy with maintenance on Valin 2.0 and 3.0 :-) Just applied
your fix to the assembly. Can you confirm it works
