building speex on macos x
this is very strange. the speex tar-ball contains the source for gnu's getopt and getop_long and the configure script detects that i have no working getopt_long. still the code is neither built nor linked. thus my solution was to compile the getopt source (i replaced them with files from the latest gengetopt btw. i have no idea why i did that) and then link speexenc and speexdec by hand

patch for compiling on IRIX
The following patch (based off of the current CVS tree) is necessary to compile Speex on IRIX (or any other system that doesn't include getopt_long in the system libraries). I would suggest further that src/getopt_win.h be renamed to getopt_long.h since it's not just Windows that lacks getopt_long. Michael Index: configure.in

Missing getopt_long in Solaris 8 Sparc
It should be using getopt1.c when getopt isn't available.c. Can you check why it doesn't? In any case, that's only required for the Ogg tools, not for the library. Re: speex 1.1.4 compile fails/vq.h parse error
It's not really documented, but when you compile with --enable-sse, you need to add -march=pentium3 to the compile switches. That's actually a gcc requirement. module-init-tools ported to klibc
Halo, I don't know if this is already done but the following two patches (one for klibc) and a big one (several smaller incorporated to one) to modules-init-tools enables running modprobe and friends in early user space. There are some issues so I post here for discussion The porting strategy was copied from the udev package. I make a file mod_libc_wrapper.{c,h} in order to provide the

Is SPEEX_GET_QUALITY implemented ?
Hi All, Almost all my question is in the subject. I have written the following small program and I get an error message when I try to use SPEEX_GET_QUALITY. This functionality seems not to be used in speexenc.c or speexdec.c. I would appreciate any hints. best regards, Alain Aubord ---------------------------test.c--------------------------------------- #include <stdio.h> #include

Cross compiling
I really have no idea of what's needed for cross-compiling. If you find out what needs to be added, please send me a patch. Possible bug in openssh configuration file
Dear Sirs, I was trying to compile openssh for Solaris 2.8 in 64bits mode. For that, I have defined the variable CFLAGS with the following value "-fast -I/isdc/include -L/isdc/lib -xtarget=ultra -xarch=v9" before running the configure command. The configure command used was the following: ./configure --prefix=/isdc --with-ssl-dir=/isdc --with-prngd-socket=/var/run/entropy

Programming questions
Hi All, I am quite new to voice encoding and to Speex library. I have some programming questions that I am not able to answer even after having read the documentation (from the start to the end an from the end to the start) and by reading the sample code (provided in the documentation) and the speexdec.c and speexenc.c programs. I am currently working on an interface between Java code and

Cross compiling
Hello all, I'm trying to build speex library for a CRIS processor running Linux. The configure seems to fail. Here is the command I use wich works to build libogg : ./configure --host=cris --prefix=/home/axis/devboard_lx/target/cris-axis-linux-gnu/usr/local --exec-prefix=/home/axis/devboard_lx/target/cris-axis-linux-gnu/usr/local (I have all my target files in this directory :

speexdec 1.2.3
Dear Jean-Marc and Peter: Thank you both very much for your time and advice. I did not realize that Lame MP3 code has a -r option (without reading its code). I have tried the suggested command lines verbatim with the added -r option, along with other combination of option settings. I could not figure out how to eliminate the distortion in the result, like voice turning either high or low

More on getopt/getopt_long
getopt() seems to be on all the Unix flavors that I can check (Solaris, IRIX, AIX, HP-UX, Linux). getopt() may be a standardized POSIX function...? I'm not sure offhand. Regardless, I think it's safe to assume that it's in all flavors of Unix -- oggenc/ogg123 need not include a local version of it for POSIX builds. Indeed, the getopt.c that is in oggenc is not friendly to the Sun
