denoising univariate data with wavelets
Hi, I am interested in a applying wavelets as a smoothing tool for my (1-dimensional) data. I looked into wavetresh and waveslim packages but could not quite figure out an obvious way to do this after running dwt or wt functions. Would someone be able to point me in the right direction on how to denoise univariate data using one of wavelet packages available in R? Thank you very much Jane ps

NHW Image codec - higher quality settings
Hello, Just a very quick message to let you know that I have added a higher quality setting (-h2, +10Ko) and I have added now residual coding on the 512x256 wavelet image for the higher settings.Precision is a little better.-I also still apply the post-processing function on the 512x256 wavelet image for now.- Here is the link for the binaries (as I can not link them in my blog for now):

NHW Image codec - improvement of precision
Hi again, I have improved precision of my codec (on the encoder and decoder).I have also improved the -h1 quality setting.-Source code and binaries at http://nhwcodec.blogspot.com/-. I am still trying to improve precision of my codec, with keeping my low-complexity (fast) approach. I do not totally use the reference (and impressive) block prediction with different modes + residual coding scheme,

NHW Image codec
Hello, Ok, and that's too many work to review a source code.In my codec, I have 3 compression schemes, I think 2 are not patented, but the third... I don't know. For the rest, I think my codec is patent-free (I don't use SPIHT,EZW,zerotree methods), even the wavelet transform is new and don't use the lifting scheme nor the convolution product. Else, if you found time to review the

Problem encoding sine wave in 1.1.6 and somewhat in 1.0.4
Interestingly enough.. I started playing around with preprocessing options in 1.1.6 and happened upon the denoise filter (SPEEX_PREPROCESS_SET_DENOISE). When i run the test tone using that option it is completely filtered out and I just get (complete) silence. When the test tone is intermixed with regular voice I only get the voice. So while i still don't quite understand why the test tone

NHW Project - news with Xiph.org
Hello, These last 2 months, I have talked again with Monty Montgomery about the NHW Project and he told me that Xiph.org would like to encourage the NHW Project development. That's just great! I'll see what Monty will do on his side (and when he has time), but he also told me that the NHW codec has merits but there must be an effort to demonstrate them. The advantages, merits of the NHW

Grouping by 3 variable and renaming groups
ALCON I'm trying to figure out how to rename groups in a data frame after groups by selected variabels. I am using the dplyr library to group my data by 3 variables as follows # group by lat (StoreX)/long (StoreY) priceStore <- LapTopSales[,c(4,5,15,16)] priceStore <- priceStore[complete.cases(priceStore), ] # keep only non NA records priceStore_Grps <- priceStore %>%

Potential transient pre-echo reduction filter
Hey everyone. I've been designing my own audio codec with extremely strict decode-performance constraints (including a fixed block size), which led me to attempting a number of unorthodox things to squeeze as much quality as possible. One surprising thing I discovered just earlier today was an extremely cheap method of reducing pre-echo during transients, without using short blocks (and

sinusoidal relationship
Hi, Suppose x and y are vectors whose elements are known. I know that there is a sinusoidal relation between them. In other words, y=a*sin(bx) where b is probably a function of pi. How do I find a and b in R? Hakan [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Hello, See if this is it: priceStore_Grps$StoreID <- paste("Store", seq_len(nrow(priceStore_Grps)), sep = "_") Hope this helps, Rui Barradas On 5/26/2018 2:03 PM, Jeff Reichman wrote: > ALCON > > > > I'm trying to figure out how to rename groups in a data frame after groups > by selected variabels. Grouping by 3 variable and renaming groups
Hello, Sorry, but I think my first answer is wrong. You probably want something along the lines of sp <- split(priceStore_Grps, priceStore_Grps$StorePC) res <- lapply(seq_along(sp), function(i){ sp[[i]]$StoreID <- paste("Store", i, sep = "_") sp[[i]] }) res <- do.call(rbind, res) row.names(res) <- NULL Hope this helps, Rui Barradas On 5/26/2018

Wavelet Functions
Does R have any wavelet functions? When I type > help.search("wavelet") I get " No help files found with alias or concept or title matching 'wavelet' using fuzzy matching." Thanks, Peter.

speex preprocess redux
I'm not sure if this is due to the same problem, but I get the same clipping behavior when trying to use VAD+denoiser on a particular mic+speaker setup that has significant background noise (enough to really foul up the codec should the denoiser be turned off.) Leaving VAD off and transmitting continuously seems to be the only way to avoid this clipping. Another person I regularly

Cycle Regression Analysis in R?
Hello R community, Does anyone know of a package that will perform cycle regression analysis? I have searched the R-help archives etc. but have come up with nothing so far. If I am unable to find an existing R package to do so, is there anyone familiar with fitting sine functions to data. My problem is this: I have a long time-series of daily SWE estimates (SWE = snow water equivalence, or

Games-Howell, Gabriel, Hochberg
Hello, I read a book about statistics in psychology. The authors use SPSS. They talk about post hoc tests after ANOVA finds significant effects: - Gabriel's procedure (for equal or slightly different sample sizes) - Hochberg's GT2 (for different sample sizes) - Games-Howell procedure (for populations with unequal variances) I could not find them in R. Do they not exist in R

what's the R code for wavelet decomposition (Haar transformation)?
Dear all, Using R function "dwt", it seems that I cannot specify the wavelet transformation like Haar. What's the R code for wavelet decomposition which allows me to specify Haar wavelet transformation? Of course, if it can include "db2", that is even better. In general, I want an R function like matlab code "dwt". Thanks in advance! Zhen Li

Best package for time series analysis with wavelets???
Hi!! I'm looking for a package in R for time series analysis using wavelets( I'm interested on extractingt information from electrocardiograms with the aim of study the heart rate variability) so i want to know which package is the best for me. I've thinking about using some of those(you can recommend me others,xD): *wavelets: A package of funtions for computing wavelet filters,
