E1 PRI to and from SIP screeching
Hi all, We have just set up trixbox latest with a Rhino r1t1 card, hooked up to a plain E1 PRI line. We call fine SIP to SIP, but as soon as we make a call from SIP to PSTN all sounds become unintelligible screeching or static kind of noise on both ends, when we call PSTN to SIP the PSTN side seemingly OK at least we hear no screeching sound, but the SIP side is a even worse screeching

Problems restoring from dump
Hello all, First, the vital stats: FreeBSD 6.1-STABLE, dovecot 1.0.rc7 from ports. I have run into a vexing little problem that has brought my deployment of a shiny new dovecot server to a screeching halt. Using 'periodic' I've configured regular backups to occur using 'dump'. I have a monthly level 0, a weekly level 4, and a daily level 8. These dumps take advantage of

VLC only sees a fraction of Speex wrapped in OGG
Friends, My name is Igor, I am new to this forum. I have a peculiar problem with my OGG/Speex implementation: I encode a short PCM stream in OGG/Speex, but the result can not be read by VLC and MediaInfo <http://mediaarea.net/nn/MediaInfo> reports that the file is too short (240ms). In reality the file contains about 2.7 sec worth of audio. Another interesting thing I noticed is that the

Hi, I tried the same options suggested in your post and the problem continues. What do you suggest? 2005/9/15, Jean-Marc Valin <Jean-Marc.Valin@usherbrooke.ca>: > Hi Eduardo, > > All I can say is that the timings you have are a bit odd. click at end of playback
Thank you very much for your immediate attention! I've exported my wav files to raw files before encoding and the click is now gone. That sure beats discarding the last packet, which was the workaround "solution" I was going to implement... Speex 1.1.10 on ARM926EJ-Sid(wb) rev 3 (v5l)
Hi all, I'm trying to use libspeex 1.1.10 on an ARM926EJ-Sid(wb) rev 3 (v5l). I executed the speexenc and speexdec test files and they can encode and decode. But I'm getting 95% of cpu utilization on the codification and 44% on the decodification. I saw in the post: http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/speex-dev/2005-June/003485.html that this version of speex works fine on ARM

size speex file encoded
Hi, I am working with libspeex api. I would like compare the size of speex file encoded with libspeex and the size of speex file encoded with speexenc. For example, I encode with speexenc (narrowband, quality 1) a wav file of 1.43 MB (17 seconds) output a spx file weight 21KB, for other hand I encode with libspeex the same wav file with same characteristics in arm processor, pocket pc and the

Asterisk, Hylafax and T38Modem - help!
Hi All, I know that this may not strictly be an asterisk issue, but if anyone has any ideas on this prob it would be appreciated. I have a working asterisk setup using Suse 9.1, a BT ISDN BRI card (Fritz?), sipura 3000 and a few cisco 7940's. I wanted to do add faxing into the equation, so I thought I would try and setup the following: PSTN->asterisk->hylafax->pc At the moment

patch for compiling on IRIX
The following patch (based off of the current CVS tree) is necessary to compile Speex on IRIX (or any other system that doesn't include getopt_long in the system libraries). I would suggest further that src/getopt_win.h be renamed to getopt_long.h since it's not just Windows that lacks getopt_long. Michael Index: configure.in

Problem encoding sine wave in 1.1.6 and somewhat in 1.0.4
Interestingly enough.. I started playing around with preprocessing options in 1.1.6 and happened upon the denoise filter (SPEEX_PREPROCESS_SET_DENOISE). When i run the test tone using that option it is completely filtered out and I just get (complete) silence. When the test tone is intermixed with regular voice I only get the voice. So while i still don't quite understand why the test tone

Speex 1.1.2 - Try it on ARM
Hi, I just released unstable version 1.1.2 that contains more fixed-point work. Though it's still not 100% complete, enough have been done to make it run in real-time on ARM. In order to do that, compile with --enable-fixed-point --enable-arm-asm. All narrowband modes work in real-time with complexity 1 (some work with higher complexity) and some wideband modes also work (up to ~20 kbps) at

Removing silence at the start and end of sample encoded
Hi, Speex is great! We are using it to compress hundreds of megabytes of speech for use in our application that trains people in resuscitation. The previous version of our product used Ogg Vorbis, but after switching to Speex, we achieve fantastic compression, while retaining super quality. That allows us to cram more translated versions of the software onto each CD-ROM, making everything

replacing ACELP encoding with speex
Hi all, I'm to hit about aprox the same encoding settings (ie bitrate, filesize, quality) with talk radio shows that are currently encoded with Real Producer in 16kbit acelp (maybe cs-acelp). Currently 2 hours of talk radio encoded in a .rm container yields about 16.3 meg file. With speex in wideband vbr I'm getting very good quality results, but with a larger filesize of 19.1 meg.
