fixed point macros
Do the two types have a constant integer and fractional part (ie 8.8
and 16.16), or does it vary. If it varies, is there any way to figure
out where the split is for a certain variable?

fixed point macros
is there documentation of what the various fixed point macros do, so I
can work on converting more of the code to fixed point? Is there only
one fixed point type, or are more than one used?

Raw Speex?
Hi,
I want to take a .wav and generate a bytestream that I can feed direct
to speex_decode(). The speexenc program appears to produce it wrapped up
in an ogg stream, and it doesn't have any sort of "raw" mode. I've tried
hacking on it to remove the ogg parts, but I must have got it wrong, as
my decode dies after decoding 160 bytes (which I believe is one frame)

problem packaging S4 class that contains a slot of jobjRef class
Hello,
I'm trying to package some source files that link R to a broker using
a Java API and the rJava package. I am successful doing the connection
and operate on it using my R code. I would like to package the files and
release the package.
I created some S4 classes to hold several Java objects. I use WinXP and R
2.7.1. I've searched RSeek and the Wiki for help, but could not find a

Dir.create_junction with FFI
Hi,
Try as I might, I just cannot get Dir.create_junction to work with FFI
in the ffi branch of the win32-dir project. The problem is the
REPARSE_JDATA_BUFFER struct. I''m just not sure how to set those
members, specifically, the PathBuffer member. The target looks good,
it''s UTF-16LE encoded, but I can''t make it work, despite trying
several ways of defining the struct,

preferences in used Compaq Proliant DL380 G1 vrs DL380 G2 etc
greetings,
for those of you in the know, may i have some assistance in helping to make
better decisions in purchasing more used server toys to install CentOS on
please? :-)
in the Compaq Proliant Rackmount DL380 line, the one that looks like the
older 1850R is called a G1 meaning Generation 1 right?
and then the DL380 G2 is a redesign that is gray and just has 6 drive bays
up front correct?

Strange problem with CSV and funny chars
I am using CSV in a rake task (db:seed) on Rails 3.0.3, Ruby 1.9.2 to
read a file with some funny chars in it. Upon breaking in at a point
where the row read using CSV is in variable row, with the string with
the char in row[''price''] I get the following strange results which I
cannot understand.
(rdb:1) row[''price'']
"\xA32.00"

Can not create model instance via params on specific model but can on others....
Anyone have an idea on this? Got a weird situation where on a specific model
I can not create an instance using params, yet it works fine on other
models. The model which does not work is a stock model, there is no logic in
it. Ruby 1.8.7/Rails 3.0.5.
Does not work:

WWW::Mechanize::Link.inspect needs some TLC
The problem: users trying to debug Mechanize apps with Komodo
are finding the debugger times out once it''s loaded a web
page. They don''t run into this in the ruby-debug debugger,
or running in normal mode.
The reason: Komodo''s debugger is graphical, which means that
whenever it hits a breakpoint it automatically shows the
contents of each local variable. It has a

autotest debugger?
Hi,
I keep facing problems with autotest, and I don''t know what''s happening
in the background, is there anyway to know what''s happening while
testing?
Example:
@user = User.new
@user.email = "testcom"
@user.errors.on(:email).should_not be_empty
...throws error failure

- You might have expected an

External CA: Could not run: Could not retrieve certificate for puppetsrv and not running on a valid certificate authority
Hi Experts,
I''m trying to generate my own certificates (all of them, including certs for
CA, server and client) for puppet to use.
and I''m getting "Could not run: Could not retrieve certificate for puppetsrv
and not running on a valid certificate authority"
Just wondering what the problem could be?
What I did is:

opening RDB files
Hi all,
I've recently upgraded to R version 2.1.1 and when trying to inspect the
contents of many packages in the library (for instance library\MASS\R) I've
realized wordpad, or the notepad, won't open them since they have *.RDB and
*.RDX extensions which these editors cannot recognize.
However, libraries in previous versions of R did not have these extensions
and I could inspect

R-beta: question on dyn.loaded code
Hi,
when designing libraries for R, is it possible to call C/Fortran
subroutines from other dynamically loaded code?
The following example crashes R:

void twice(int *i)
{
*i = 2 * *i;
}
*********************************
********* fn2.c *****************
extern int twice(int *i);

Multicast panic caused by elasticsearch
Hi,
I was experimenting with Logstash + elasticsearch on FreeBSD 9 - initially I downloaded it by hand (I forgot to check for a port) and it worked fine.
I then tried the port and this forced me to use a different java version (was jdk-16.0.3p4_25 now openjdk6-b27) and it seems that the new one causes a panic.
Unfortunately crashdumps aren't working properly, however I did get the panic
