ultra wide band packet questions
Hi Jean Marc and List, So I have started finally fiddling around with Ultra-wideband mode. It appears to be very similar in operation to Wide mode, except that when peering into the packet structure it looks like (and these are kind of questions as much as statements here): 1. update rate 0 is not used in UWB- only 1-4? 2. The total bits used for each UWB update rate seem to be as follows:

Sub-band filtering
hi, I have a small and quick question. When speex divide the UWB speech signal into High and low bands, JMV said to me in HA that : "For ultra-wideband (0-16 kHz, 32 kHz sampling), I first split the band into wideband (0-8 kHz) and "very high band" (8-16 kHz). Then, the wideband itself is split into low (0-4 kHz) and high (4-8 kHz) band. So there's a total of 3 bands

A question in the document of wide-band encoding.
Dear Jean-Marc: in Section Speex wideband mode (sub-band CELP), Subsection Bit allocation of the speex manual, you pointed out that the mode ID of wideband is 3 bits (it is consistent with the source code), however, in the following table (Table Quality versus bit-rate for the wideband encoder), there are 11 different modes (from 0 to 10). I am confused about this inconsistency, as 3 bits can

something wrong with narrowband and ultra-wideband?
I downloaded speex-1.2beta3-win32 binaries, and used the speexenc.exe and speexdec to process the file male.wav download from http://speex.org/samples I used both the narrowband and ultra-wideband mode: >speexenc -n --quality 3 male.wav n3.spx Encoding 8000 Hz audio using narrowband mode (mono) >speexdec n3.spx n3.wav Decoding 8000 Hz audio using narrowband mode (mono) Encoded with Speex

openh323 conflict; can speex_encode take short?
openh323 speexcodec.cxx has: BOOL SpeexCodec::EncodeFrame(BYTE * buffer, unsigned & length) { // convert PCM to float float floatData[SAMPLES_PER_FRAME]; PINDEX i; for (i = 0; i < SAMPLES_PER_FRAME; i++) floatData[i] = sampleBuffer[i]; // encode PCM data in sampleBuffer to buffer speex_bits_reset(bits); speex_encode(coder_state, floatData, bits);

Decoding raw problem on OS X with 1.03
Hi all, I've built Speex 1.03 on Mac OS X. I encoded a raw PCM file successfully using: /usr/local/bin/speexenc raw_samples.raw --rate 44100 --be --16bit raw_enc.spx Warning: Speex is only optimized for 8, 16 and 32 kHz. It will still work at 44100 Hz but your mileage may vary Encoding 44100 Hz audio using ultra-wideband (sub-band CELP) mode (mono) If I decode to .wav, it works fine.

8800 Ultra support?
After playing around with the dlls/wined3d/directx.c file to update the driver version numbers used for nvidia drivers i noticed that 8800 ultra was missing and likely being recognized as the much weaker 8800, I didn't know where to go for this so I'm posting it here, if you could add these two lines it should cover the 8800 Ultra since its essentially the GTX with slightly faster clock

Issues with GeForce 6800 Ultra (NV40) and nouveau on linux 4.4 (powerpc)
I recently acquired an old PowerMac G5 that has an AGP GeForce 6800 Ultra (NV40) in it. I put debian stretch (testing) on it and am having issues getting the 6800 Ultra working with nouveau. Software versions: linux: 4.4.0 (powerpc) libdrm: 2.4.65 mesa: 11.0.8 nouveau: 1.0.12 On boot when the system starts Xorg I get an initially black screen that finally changes to a screen that has distorted

4k tv and UEFI Ultra Fast Boot
I have monitor connected by DVI and a 4K tv connected by HDMI. I have a Gigabyte GeForce 1050 OC 2G video card. The firmware takes 15 seconds to load (systemd-analyze) so I tried the Ultra Fast Boot (UEFI) option in the BIOS. With Ultra Fast Boot the firmware loads in less than 5 seconds. All seems to work with just the DVI monitor plugged in. When I try to boot with the 4K tv attached, the

maximum frame-length for narrow, wide and ultrawide encoding
> What is the maximum frame-length that libspeex will produce for narrow, > wide and ultrawide encoding? In normal operation (no in-band side information, like requests, ack, stereo, ...), the max size for a frame is 62 bytes in narrowband, 106 bytes for wideband and 110 bytes for ultra-wideband. Driver for Ultra UPS BNT-1000AP
Hi I purchased an Ultra 1000VA UPS (http://www.ultraproducts.com/product_details.php?cPath=35&pPath=154&productID=154) I am trying to use nut with it (I am using gentoo linux) but can't find the proper driver. The numbers on the back suggest it might be similar to Black Knight Pro BNT-1000AP from Powercom (http://www.powercom-usa.com/ProductDetail.asp?ID=8974). So I tried the powercom

CentOS 4.2beta on Sun Ultra 5 (sparc64)
I just wanted to bring some attention to the experimental build of CentOS that Pasi put together for sparc64 architecture. I installed it for the first time last night on a Sun Ultra 5 (333MHz, 256MB RAM, upgraded to 40GB hard disk). I installed it over a serial console as this is a headless system. Install went flawlessly. After the install was done and it booted up, I ssh'd in as root,
