Website search broken ?
I''m starting this on the users list because it''s not impossible
I''m getting something wrong :-) However, the search functions on
www.shorewall.net do not seem to return any hits any more. I am sure
that they have done in the past. Over the last couple of days I''ve
tried searching both the site, the lists, and both, and have had no
hits - even for single word

tcrules for proto "all" still not working in 2.0.9
I have just installed shorewall 2.0.9, having spent a day and a
half tracking down why my tcrules wasn''t working properly in 2.0.8.
I didn''t see the announcement of 2.0.9 because it didn''t go to -announce.
Anyway I have 2.0.9 now (the package from Debian incoming) and the problem
is still there.
My tcrules file says:

Problems with dynamic zones

I found out problems with dynamic add of hosts to zones. If somebody has
idea how to fix it, please do tell. My head is not working on this on
properly. Hope you get idea from this message. I''m trying to simplify
this as much as possible to get problem clear.

Adding dynamically more than one host at once?
Hi,
it seems not to be possible to add more than one host at once to a zone.
So
shorewall add br0:eth0:192.168.2.10,eth0:192.168.2.11 work
fails, since "br0:eth0:192.168.2.10,eth0" is interpreted as one interface.

Patch to fix dynamic add/delete to zone functinality

I''m running systems with openswan and modified _updown script supporting
shorewall dynamic hosts. Because on problems with cvs head version of
openswan I found a error from shorewall dynamic hosts support. When host
is already in zone shorewall aborts adding process with error. This is
not good thing(tm).

Shorewall 1.2.10
This is a minor release of Shorewall.

1. A "shorewall try" command has been added. This command attempts to
restart Shorewall using an alternate configuration and if that
attempt fails, Shorewall is automatically started with the default

DMZ Recommendations
From reading the documentation, I understand that it is recommended to
put servers that may be at risk in a DMZ served via proxy-arp. In this
case, the local clients that are behind a NAT would have their
connections to the DMZ masqueraded, yes?
Is there any way around this that would still be considered secure?
Just looking for advice.

bridge and dynamically adding hosts to zones
Hi,
I''ve set up a bridge which connects two parts of the same subnet with
each other.
I''ve set up everything as described in the Documentation and it works
very nicely.
However: I have a problem with adding hosts to zones dynamically.

Shorewall backup configuration patch/hack
Hi,
I created a modification (more like a hack) to shorewall that backups a
configuration after succesfully (re)starting it. In case a future
(re)start fails it will use this backup configuration. (instead of
stopping the firewall and generating a massive ammount phonecalls ;)
I didn''t pay too much attention to the ramifications of this patch, so let
me know if i screwed anything up.

parallel zone: loc2 is composition of loc1
i have no idea how to definie for a parallel zone the host file if the
second zone (net) should be the composition of the first zone (dmz).
i tried all the following combinations in the interface and host files:

SuSe 9.1 startup issue
Tom,
I am NOT subscribed (yet). I dropped SuSeFirewall2 in favor of
shorewall to get past the configuration hurdles I as experiencing.
At the moment, when my SuSe 9.1 starts up, I can see shorewall processing
the rules, policies, etc. and I see no errors and then moves on with the
rest of the SuSe boot process .
However, no traffic passes through using the rules.

Oracle SQL*Net through Shorewall

I am a newbie to Linux firewalls, and am trying to setup shorewall to allow connections from an Oracle client to an Oracle Server. The client tries to connect to the server via port 1521 (it works fine) and once the first connection has been successful, the server sends a redirect to the client to a random high port. New User on FC3
I am a new user of shorewall, and am having some difficulty getting it set up on a
new Fedora Core 3 system. When I run the shorewall script in the /etc/init.d the

Serious Bug found in Shorewall 1.3.x
Rafa³ Dutko has just discovered a potentially serious bug in version 1.3.0
and 1.3.1. In both versions, where an interface option appears on multiple
interfaces, the option may only be applied to the first interface on which
it appears.

cascading LANs
I have a DMZ (eth2: 10.0.100.0) and a LOC1 (eth0: 10.0.0.0) defined on my firewall.
On one of the port on the switch serving LOC1 I have now a router and a switch
feeding a bunch of computers with net=10.0.200.0.
While I have defined a route to reach LOC2, I would like to define also a specific
zone in order to assign different rules to it.

Two diferent LAN''s...

I''ve got a question about how to configure the shorewall, and maybe
someone could answer.
I have a PC with 3 ethernet. The eth0 connets to internet. The eth1
connects to LAN A, and the eth2 connects to LAN B. I''ve configured
the shorewall for doing NAT, and both LANs can navigate, but it seems
that from a LAN A host you can connect to a PC of LAN B, and the
