Some notes on the FAQ
Hi. : )
I was updating my unofficial Korean Ogg Vorbis FAQ, when I noticed the following:
While #ext is no longer listed in the FAQ contents, http://www.vorbis.com/faq.psp#ext still exists.
IMHO http://www.vorbis.com/faq.psp#stream looks a little awkward. I suggest something like: Icecast streams Ogg vorbis to playsers like XMMS, Winamp 2, and foobar2000, which are all capable of...

How widely spread is this file format?
I just have a general question about this file format. How many music players out on the market support this format? I know Winamp does but does iPod, DellDJ, or any other portable devices support this format? Just curious how widely accepted this format is for a project I might have.
Thanks!

RE: [vorbis-dev] ACM codec
hmm -- you make a good point. However note that Divx is quite popular in spite of having gone with AVI format, so your logic doesn't hold in that case. Frankly though I sort of agree, in that Divx would have been even more popular and cause less headaches with a .DVX extension rather than AVI.
I 100% agree that the form of the codec that should be distributed for playback is OGG. The

using win32 static libs
hi,
i hope this is not too "newbie-ish" but i've never programmed with static libs before.
i've downloaded the win32sdk and try to build a simple wav->ogg/vorbis encoder, but the linker complained about several redefinitions.
environment is visual studio .net 2003 on winxp and a standard mfc-app set up by this project-wizzard that comes with vs.net2003 using the default

Question for Game Audio Developers?
Can a stereo, or mono, ogg encoded file be looped without the delay/pop you
get when doing so to an MP3 file?

Here is my test project then.
To keep the zip small, I didn't put the flac files. Just copy the
flac-1.1.0 directory into flactest (so that the path flac-1.1.0\include
and flac-1.1.0\src exists in flactest). The project should then compile
as is.
All the code is in flactest.cpp. It's pretty basic. You'll have to

FLAC on Pocket PC
Hi,
I'm trying to use FLAC (v1.1.0) on a Pocket PC (Toshiba e740). It
compiles fine without any warning. When I try to compresse 16bits waves,
everything is fine. When I try to compress 8bits waves, I get a audio
mismatch error (FLAC__STREAM_ENCODER_VERIFY_MISMATCH_IN_AUDIO_DATA).
Does anyone have had this problem? I can send the project if someone can
look at it.
Thanks,
Jehan

question about "struct kvm_segment"
Hi,
The structure kvm_segment is defined as follows:
struct kvm_segment {
__u64 base;
__u32 limit;
__u16 selector;
__u8 type;
__u8 present, dpl, db, s, l, g, avl;
__u8 unusable;
__u8 padding;
};
Since the VMX spec defines base is 64 bits, limit is 32bits, selector
is 16bits, understandably, __u64, __u32, __u16 is used for them

[LLVMdev] New 8bit micro controller back-end
Hi all,
I'm new to LLVM dev mailling list and I'm starting to discover some aspects
of LLVM.
Actually I'm looking for a solution to create a tool chain for my own chip
(a 8bit micro controller processor) that include a compiler/linker/assembler
toolset and a simulator/debugger.

Encoding from fifo's
Hello, I'm new to the list, so if this is an FAQ, please point me to the
relevant docs.
I'm playing with Theora, to see what kind of quality I can expect (I
realise its not for production use yet). I've download the source from
CVS, and got it to build, with the example encoder and player.
While trying to find something to serve as a good source of input, I
decided I'd use a

What is the instruction set of your microcontroller? How rich it is?
What is the architecture? Is it RISC-y?

How to make this script ask again
Hi,
as an example I have made this script to give the user the answer if a
number is odd or even:
{
cat("Please, enter a number (Zero ends)")
n<-scan(n=1)
if(n==0)break
i<-("The number is odd")
p<-("The number is even")
if (n%%2==0)
p else i
}
If you run this script it will only work once, I mean, after it gives you
the answer is won't ask for
