Some questions
Hi,
I might have written to this mailing list previously about this but I've
been experiencing some mailing problems so I write this again.
First of all, thanks Jean-Marc Valin for your continued efforts on
speex.
I must say that I am very impressed with Speex and further more the
innovative features recently added in 1.1.
They have worked great for me.
Question 1)
What is the return value

Thanks for the response, Jim, you told me most of what I needed to know.

Well, heh, I'm not sure if an ARM running at ~200mHz - with a fair amount of
other stuff to do at the same time - really qualifies as "enough CPU." Is
there sort of a rule of thumb for how much gumption a chip

Login-Problem with DFS-Share
Hallo,
I want to use several DFS-Shares from a M$-Server trough my Samba-Server
(3.0.20b-3.21-1370-SUSE on an OpenSchoolServer).
I've created symlinks in /export/dfsroot like:

Speex hardware requirements?
Compared to todays PDAs the GameBoy Advance (GBA) is low spec. it has a
16MHz ARM7tdmi RISC processor. 32-bit but it can handle 16-bit
instructions in a mode that resembles "bytecode" (a 32-bit instruction
is executed using a 16-bit instruction). I got a feeling that the GBA
would need a FPU.
For more information on the GBA visit this info page:

Also, you would be sattisfied with the narrowband decoding because the
GBA sound quality isn't very good, however, that depends greatly on what
you're going to do with speex on a GBA.... (an RPG with audio dialogs?
;-)) also, using a DSP in a GBA Cartridge sounds like overkill to me,
however, that depends greatly on what are you developing and what's your
target audience....

I think narrowband decoding should work then (at least if you disable
perceptual enhancement). As for wideband, it would at least require
shortcuts in the QMF (replacing with IIR filter) to work.

SV: Some simple questions
Maybe this is plain stupid or off topic.
Could an atleast working fixed-point implementation of Speex be made by
using a C++ "faked float" class with overloaded operators?
Don't know if this is a common way to solve stuff like this, but my
guess is that it would work.

random sample set for regression
Hi,
I'm not a programmer, so I have a question about R functions,
I run the Random Forest regression models, but
I would like to run the random forest model 1000 times with different
random sample set. to check the uncertainty of the regression model
estimates.

Speex hardware requirements?
Hi,
Decoding Speex is really cheap (about 10x faster than encoding). I
expect most PDAs (no FPU) will be able to decode Speex at 16 kHz in
real-time. I have no idea what CPU the Gameboy advance uses, so I can't
say.

Speex hardware requirements?
Hi evrybody,
I wonder witch hardware requirements it is for speex decoding
(especially 16kHz mono sound).
Could it be possible to use the Gameboy advance hardware if you added a
FPU? or dose it need to be more powerfull?

Some simple questions
I'm being PHBed into a VOIP project, and Speex sprang to mind. Bandwidth is
going to be a fairly serious issue for us. With regards to a Speex
enc/decoder, I was wondering: Rick Kane and David Siebert have already asked
about this, but seem to have gotten very different responses - the former a
call to arms, and the latter a "well, if you do it, it'll get done." What's

Samba Hylafax PAM
Hai,
I dont have hylafax running atm, but can you check for the following.
/etc/pam.d/common-account/password/session .. etc. and pam_ldap
Look for any : minimum_uid=1000 if you see that, remove "minimum_uid=1000"
And whats the UID for user : hylafax
After the changes,
stop nslcd.
Restart samba
Restart hylafax
If needed reboot the server.
And check again.

speex_denoise on non-microphone noise (static ?)
Thanks for the speedy response and detailed, enlightening explanation.
Now I understand where the problem is, and will try out your suggestions
just to further confirm my conjecture.
When I am done, I have to take the foil out, though. This is a product
for our customers to use, and although we've got budget for mulffing
every sound card we developers use, most likely the company

Understand that it's a *guess*. If this fixes or at least betters the
situation, you're going to need to find a legit way to insulate these cards,
or to switch cards. If it's for customers, I should hope you wouldn't be
using enamelled aluminum foil. :D

Windows 10 in Samba 3 domain: netlogon share access denied
Hi,
I got the same problem with Build 10162. I dont think it's an Samba
issue. It seems that Windows 10 dont like "\\....\netlogon". Our Samba
3.5.6 PDC works like a charm for win 7. From my Win10 PC i can access
everything except \\dc1\netlogon
Symptoms:
Accessing \\dc1\netlogon -> Auth fail
Accessing \\dc1\netlogon2 -> Works (same config!!!)
Accessing \\dc1\s1\netlogon

I posted this also on hylafax list - maybe here is someone with a hint.

package lmodel2: p-value RMA fitting?
Hi *,
is there a way to obtain some kind of p-value for a model fitted with RMA
using the lmodel2 package?
I know that p-values are discussed and criticized a lot and as you can image
from my question I'm not
very much of a statistican (only writing my bachelor thesis).
As fare as I understood the confidence interval statistic correctly, a
coefficient is regarded as statistically
significant
