Server crashed with Common/ocfsgencreate.c, Common/ocfsgenvote.c
Hi Experts, We have a 4nodes RAC running and recently one is down due to hardware (fibre optics card) failure. Since running on 3-nodes RAC, the surviving server just keep crashing. We cannot figure out why is this happening but checking /var/log/messages we have these error (notice the msg before crashing at 8:32): Dec 12 08:30:45 x335-142 kernel: (2) ERROR: file entry name did not match inode,

Problems related to Garena
Now, I can play some games on garena, but not all. As discussed in topic http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=9468 we are able to play games on garena. However, it is not every time that the games are shown on Warcraft 3. Garena is a great client, and many people play DotA games on it, mainly here in Brazil. I posted a bug on Bugzilla, that is related to the client not opening

global lock when executing hook scripts
Hello. I'm try to understand, why in case of 20 workers libvirt fully locked when runs qemu hook (when domain starts) virsh list freezes. As i understand in case of using more workers it utilized to run hooks too, but as i see in pstree only main libvirt process executes hook. Why this happening? pstree -a -p 6642 libvirtd,6642 -d -l ├─qemu,9272 /etc/libvirt/hooks/qemu testvm prepare begin -

Summary functions to dataframe
I have written a few different summary functions. I want to calculate the statistics by groups and I am having trouble getting the output as a dataframe. I have attached one example with a small dataset that calculates summary stats and percentiles, I have others that calculate upper confidence limits etc. I would like the output to be converted to a dataframe with one of the columns as the

(Trying) to understand Print properties saving
Hi, some weeks ago I wrote to this list about a problem I have saving print properties (samba 3.4.7 - ubuntu-lucid + XP-pro) I never managed to solve it, I also tried with samba 3.6+ (Ubuntu precise) but had aother problems I wrote about in this list ending opening a bug [1]. zfs questions wrt unused blocks
Gents, We want to understand the mechanism of zfs a bit better. Q: what is the design/algorithm of zfs in terms of reclaiming unused blocks? Q: what criteria is there for zfs to start reclaiming blocks Issue at hand is an LDOM or zone running in a virtual (thin-provisioned) disk on a NFS server and a zpool inside that vdisk. This vdisk tends to grow in size even if the user writes and deletes

Are the find_ methods strictly a SQL thing?
I''ve had a number of occasions now where I want to find something in my model that is not on the primary object. For instance I''ve got a class Alert that has_one Status. Status has a "label". I want to find all of my Alert objects and order the results alphabetically by status label. Can I do that without going into SQL? Right now I find myself doing an

Saving data in an R package - how to maintain that t avariable is a 'factor' when it is coded as 1, 2, 3...
I have a .txt file obtained by saving a data frame in which the first four columns are factors (but represented as 1,2,3 etc). The first four lines are "Pig" "Evit" "Cu" "Litter" "Start" "Weight" "Feed" "Time" "4601" "1" "1" "1" 26.5 26.5 NA 1 "4601" "1"

Initializing a large data structure to be accessed strictly within a shared C library
Dear R-devel members, The question: Is it possible to initialize and later free a large data structure strictly within a shared C library, to be used by a function in the C library that I'll call from R--without ever having to pass data to and from R? This is analogous to C++ object initialization/use/destruction, but if possible I'd like to stay in C. The context: I'm implementing

I've been hacked -- what should I do next?
My home system has been hacked. It's running CentOS 4.4, and I recently added an account to play around with Samba shares to back up PCs here at home. I had set a weak password for that account and forgot to disable it after my testing. I could hear the disk being accessed constantly, so I knew something was up. I disabled the port forwarding to my CentOS box on my Linksys router

Hi All; I keep getting "Bad file descriptor (9), error in file IO (code 11) at receiver.c(720) [receiver=3.0.5]" from the following: ravmud@bubu:~/bin$ rsync -vvv \ --modify-window=1 \ --progress --stats --compress \ --recursive --times --perms --links --delete \ --exclude "*bak" --exclude "*~" \ --password-file=/home/ravmud/bin/pr \

kjournald tuning
While investigating erratic performance on one our our servers, I'm getting some very odd performance stats coming from vmstat. What initially appeared to be happening is the machine goes into a hard loop in some mod_perl webserver code. Now there still may be an issue with the code, but my code examinations show no possible way this could be happening, but what I'm writing to you

Wanted: Unix Winpopup receiver program.
I want to use smbclient -M to send new mail notification to unix users. I have some of our workstations running smbd from inetd and am using the "message command" option quite successfully. What I was wondering is, has someone implemented the winpopup reception end in a form that would be more efficient than using full blown smbd? Am I making myself clear? Perhaps if someone could

xattr version generates 'wrong write used in receiver'
Applying the xattr and acl patch to 2.6.9, running ./prepare-source and config with ./configure --enable-xattr-support results in a version which fails to transfer with the error msg 'wrong write used in receiver' and complaints about protocol mismatch. I see there's a patch for a similar problem when SUPPORT_ACLS is defined; anybody done one for --xattrs? No, I'm not
