using string variable as order() function argument
Hello, In my script I would like to use a loop, which sorts the dataframe according to different columns, pointed by the string variable. id col1 col2 col3 1 10 0 4 8 2 11 1 2 2 3 12 0 8 3 4 13 0 5 5 Usually the order() function can be used like this: sorted = mytable**[order(column3) , ] which results in properly sorted table: **

Rsync: Segmentation fault
Rsync 2.5.5; transfer via ssh; sparc-sun-solaris2.5 (Ultra 1); gcc 2.8.1. Every time rsync on this box causes boundary violation. I attached two strange examples. I have a few rsync's corefiles (100MB and above) and I can examine them. I will be grateful for any help. -Mirek <-------------------------------------------------------------------------> received 966761 names done

WEBrick, Passenger or Mongrel
Hi, My organization is going to set up puppet soon. We have thousands servers and desktops. Would WEBrick work well for this? Or should we use Passenger? Firewall/Gateway Hardware Question
I've given up on getting the other machine to work so I'm looking at building a new one. The machine will be a firewall/gateway running NAT, Web Proxy with Dansguardian, DHCP, DNS, NTP and VPN (~6 clients). I read so much about VPN encryption and the processor needs, now I am unsure if this will work. I can get this for AMD FX-8120 Zambezi 3.1GHz Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Desktop

Large exclude list
Hi, I'm facing problems with rsync using very large exclude-from list (around 780k lines, 32MB in size). Clients reads whole exclude list, then the sender receives the exclude rules but is stuck at around line 32k ... Can you point me what to look out? What information would be useful to find the issue? The rsync client/sender versions are 3.0.9. -ml

ogginfo speed
Hello ! I'm using ogginfo quite often to generate a up to date list of all files I encoded so far. I noticed that it almost always reads the whole ogg file (to determine bitrate?) which is awfully slow if you have more than a gig of ogg. How can I speed up the process? Best regards, Sascha -- I get enough exercise just pushing my luck. --- >8 ---- List archives:

nss_winbind / offline logon
Hello list users, I have been struggling to make my AD integrated Debian Lenny box to work fluently also when network connectivity is down. What I would like to achieve: 1) When no network available, local user should still work normally 2) If possible, AD located users should still be able to login if they have previously logged in successfully (cached login) Number 2 is more like optional,

An alternate "dovecot-auth" daemon using cyrus-sasl
We use dovecot in a heterogeneous environment (Windows/Linux desktops and Linux servers). For unified authentication we use a sheaf "Samba/Openldap" (i.e., Samba NT domain with openldap backend and pam/nss_ldap for Linux). Windows users are authenticated well everywhere, but there is one old issue. As "SPA" (NTLM) against NT domain is not supported by dovecot, it is

Kenneth's Second Commit
I've fixed a heck of a lot of stuff in the time frame of just over ten minutes. And you all care... right. I actually ran Vorbize, and discovered some stupid bugs (e.g., segfault???). Fixed. Both Vorbize and Ogg123 should now speak fluently in Monty's comment-eese. I'll be working on getting both to implement all the comment tags; I'm seriously considering dropping all comment

Installation of R in a Linux/Intel platform
I use R fluently with Windows98/NT. I have tried to install R (R-base_0.64_2-2.i386.rpm) in a Linux/Intel platform (RedHat 6.0), but the system signals the following message of error (gnomerpm): file not rpm.I have tried, without success, to install R-base_0.64_2-2.src.rpm. Samba memory usage - how big is it?
Hi, I'd upgraded samba to v3.0.32 last Sunday before our samba server started to hang. Every day we have to restart our server 2-3 times (today I just restart it once). I can see via System Monitor that 33 of our users each (pid) consume 13.6Mb (average) of memory. Our server only have 1Gb of RAM but usually it runs very well (except that we've already moved solidworks engineer to work

3.11.5 kernel compile
Hey all, I have just compiled the 3.11.5 kernel from kernel.org to fix the ACPI wont shutdown issue, but I have a couple errors in dmesg I am trying to figure out. Can anyone point me in the right direction? The errors are: 1: dm_mod: module verification failed: signature and/or required key missing - tainting kernel 2: [drm] VGACON disable radeon kernel modesetting.

Introductions, questions
Hello, I have found that I need to be able to control a TrippLite SMART2200RMXL2U ups, with an external battery. I found recently after trying to communicate that many of the bits I would care about (the output ports/loads) wheren't exposed in the current driver. I also happen to have the Web/SNMP card, which allows me to change many of the settings via ssh/http interfaces. I'm

Returning the mock associated with an expectation.
I was reading through the FlexMock docs and noticed the expectation method .mock, which returns the original mock associated with an expectation. It looks really handy for writing nice all-in-one mocks like: mock_user = mock(''User'').expects(:first_name).returns(''Jonah'').mock So I started playing around with mocha and found I could actually already do this!

package introductions
I have been experimenting with different possibilities for an "introduction" page for my packages. That is, a good place to tell users about the most important things in a package, and where to start. Recently there was a discussion about this, and a suggestion to use <foo>-package.Rd, and also a function that generates a skeleton document. My problem with this suggestion is

Older versions of samba that work with CentOS 7?
Hi. Are there any places I can download older versions of Samba working with CentOS 7? Reason: I have been upgrading all of my servers from 6.X to 7.X. This alone is a massive task for me as I am a one man band. Samba made massive changes not allowing NT style domains anymore in the 4.10 branch. If I can find older samba RPM's for CentOS 7 than I can finish all upgrades of the OS, then
