grsync for centos 7
Hello. I think it is just too easy to make mistakes with rsync. And getting it "almost correct" can really get you hurt. So I would like to learn with Grsync. But, Grsync does not seem to be in the centos 7 or EPEL 7 repositories (although it may have been around as late as centos 6). Is it now in any "reputable" repositories? If not, has anyone installed it from source

Thanks for the replies. 1) I always use the -n (--dry-run) option. Couldn't imaging not doing so! 2) I hate having to look up stuff like the trailing slashes each time. And trying to decide what to (--exclude), to -H or not to -H, etc. 3) I hate having to re-do #2 every time I want to do a small ad-hoc backup or synchronization, let alone a full filesystem backup. 4) I could do shut

No Internet, no asterisk
Hi, this is an old outstanding problem, unfortunately I don't remember how to walkaround it. I use asterisk 1.8.3 and I have a public IP in my network interface. As soon as the Internet connection goes down, phones stop working. I want to be able to use pstn, isdn and the gsm gateway even if the Internet connection goes down, how can I achieve it? Thank you, Darkbasic

The only things I find confusing are what the trailing / means on a directory name

Cifs permission for mac guests
Hi, I have a FreeNAS server with a cifs share, accessible by all the lan users (guest access) Every one can access it and write in it. When Mac OSX users are creating a file or a folder, they write it with the following permissions : rwxr-xr-x Rhis only happen with mac users. So the other users can't modify or delete theses files/folders. How to configure my share if I want that all the

A .puppet directory is installed under $HOME and ssl key is installed under $HOME/.puppet/ssl.. I sign the certificat on the puppet master and the client is working fine. However I cannot change

Steam games crash during gameplay
Hey everyone! I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 w/ ALSA and the Ubuntu-packaged ATI Catalyst driver for my ATI X1700. My problem is that I'll be playing CounterStrike or Half-Life or BrainBread for maybe 2 minutes if I'm lucky, and then suddenly my computer locks up. I get to hear the same 1-second slice of in-game sound over and over again and the screen stays frozen. In CS:CZ, it seems that

Bug #2617(?) in Puppet 0.25.1rc2
When I use the latest puppet 0.25.1 I got the same problem. This is what I do: 0. Install the Ubuntu 8.04 server with ssh, ruby, rdoc, libopenssl- ruby and git-core (which gets removed after clone). 1. Install the latest puppet from git repositories on both machines using git clone «git clone git://github.com/reductivelabs/puppet» and «git clone git://github.com/reductivelabs/facter» 2. Install it

encrypted rsyncd - why was it never implemented?
rsync in daemon mode is very powerful, yet it comes with one big disadvantage: data is sent in plain. The workarounds are not really satisfying: - use VPN - one needs to set up an extra service, not always possible - use stunnel - as above - use SSH - is not as powerful as in daemon mode (i.e. read only access, chroot, easy way of adding/modifying users and modules etc.) Why was encrypted
