What does this mean? select(1, [0], , NULL, {60, 0}) = 0 (Timeout)
From man 2 select: int select(int nfds, fd_set *readfds, fd_set *writefds, fd_set *exceptfds, struct timeval *timeout); So, it is waiting for file descriptor #1 to become available with a 60 second timeout which it is hitting. Use lsof to find out what file descriptor #1 is. On 01/22/2018 10:07 AM, Marc Roos via rsync wrote: > > I have been having broken pipe messages for a while. I

hello, trying to understand why a rsync client hangs during a transfer. Hopefully someone can advise. client = rsync 3.0.6, server = rsync 3.1.1 , transfer is done to a rsync module with such a command: rsync -rtxvvv my_data rsync://test at my.rsync.server/INCOMING/ <rsync://test at rsync.resif.fr/INCOMING_TEST/> the client starts to transfer data (a few Mb) then hangs, then manually

rsync 3.0.9 hangs on large file
Hi Folks, Similar to an earlier thread, but slightly more ordinary. My old rsync backup script, which worked fine under Ubuntu 12.04, hangs on Ubuntu 12.10 (rsync 3.0.9) and a 250 MB file. Command line as follows: rsync --itemize-changes --human-readable --progress --delete \ --delete-excluded --compress --bwlimit=18 --recursive --archive \ --partial --partial-dir=~/partial

BackupPC using rsync fails with "protocol version mismatch -- is your shell clean?"
Hello, I just installed BackupPC in a Debian box to use it as backup server. As you know, this software makes use, among others, of rsync. When using the rsync option, it fails. Server: Debian Jessie. BackupPC 3.3.1 built from source, executed by user "backup-user". Rsync 3.1.2 built from source with the default options. Client Debian Jessie. Rsync 3.1.2 built from source with the

Having problem getting Asterisk to work on CentOS 7
Some background information. I have used Debian with Asterisk for several years. Have encountered zero problems. I am now trying to setup an Asterisk on a CentOS7 box using VMWare Workstation. I am brand new to CentOS and RHEL so I may be missing something obvious. I am installing CentOS Minimal Install and Asterisk from Source. (I have installed Asterisk from Source on Debian hundreds of

rsync craps out, transferring large amounts of data
Hello, all... I've been trying for a week for transfer ~100 Gig of data using either rsync:// over IPSEC or tunneled through SSH, but it keeps failing... I have done as the documentation says and here are the results: I ran the following command: rsync -avz -vvv --dry-run --rsync-path=/root/bin/rsync-debug.sh -- delete-excluded --exclude-from=server-backup.exclusions --link-

Migration from 3.6.25-0ubuntu0.12.04.10 to 4.x with passdb backend = ldapsam Hi. I tried to migrate my storage(smb) server to more newer version, but faced with 'segfaults", after(in progress) client authenticating, when samba tries to start a new smbd instance (as i understand). I saw client authentication success, which interrupts in following places: In case with

geo-replication command rsync returned with 3
Hi, As a quick workaround for geo-replication to work. Please configure the following option. gluster vol geo-replication <mastervol> <slavehost>::<slavevol> config access_mount true The above option will not do the lazy umount and as a result, all the master and slave volume mounts maintained by geo-replication can be accessed by others. It's also visible in df output.

Rsync Hang with multiple files
I have a problem with rsync hanging when transferring multiple files over a VPN to a separate server. Local server is RHEL4 and remote server is FC6. It ends up failing with the following error message: rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (3193 bytes received so far) [receiver] rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(600) [receiver=3.0.0pre8] rsync: connection

Rsync tries to access unnecessary files/dirs after chrooting itself.
Hi. While debugging some encfs errors in the logs, I realized they are being generated because rsync (chrooted inside a encfs file system, --reverse) is trying to access files like: /root/.popt, /etc/localtime etc. This doesn't seem to be related to ID-name mapping as I already have numeric ids enabled in config. Here is the relevant strace output: [pid 25549] chroot("/chroot")

I got the strace output now, but it very difficult to read (chdir in a multi-threaded process ?). My current inclination is to blame

Failed to retrieve current state of resource: No child processes
Hi, I don''t know whether this is a ruby, puppet, or facter bug. The whole issue is one of the "really weird" ones. I first noticed the problem when working with puppet on a train, without any internet connection. In such situation, two problems appear: 1) Mildly annoying, frequent 2-second pauses followed by: Timed out seeking value for ipaddress I think this is

After each upgrade i have tested the geo-replication which worked well anytime. then i

Idletimeout patch, third attempt
Here is my third attempt at the idletimeout patch. I tried to address the points which Marcus Friedl brought up. It is actually bigger than the previous patches, but not as intrusive. It is big because it moves some stuff from serverloop.c to packet.c. - I moved all the logic to packet.c. This means that I also had to move the actual select() call, which used to be in serverloop.c to packet.c.
