viewing, if not editing, NFSv4 ACL's from Samba shares
Good morning, folks. I'm involved in a project to enforce NFSv4 ACL's across a variety of storage platforms, in particular NetApps sharing NFS. That works fiine with the NetApp NFS qtrees, but we'd like to share those with CIFS clients as well. This works, and restricts access the way we expect NFSv4 ACL's to work, but the Windows clients cannot view any of the security settings

Does control of NFS4 ACL's from NetApps work for RHEL Samba servers with Windows XP clients at all?
Good morning! I'm reviewing some corporate storage setups involving NetApps, where the NetApp stores what they call "UNIX Qtrees". So far, so good: those allow the setting of access to the data with NFS4 ACL's, which are fairly sophisticated and allow multiple groups or even multiple users to be granted write access.or read access, besides the normal UNIX group owner. That works

wbinfo -a not working
Hello, I'm trying to connect my Debian 4 samba box to my Windows 2003Server Active Directory. I successfully joined the domain, with net ads join. Wireshark captures a lot of packets going over the wire, and I get the message "joined the domain successfully". In my AD, under 'computers', the samba box appeared. So that all works. Asking a kerberos ticket for a user with

[LLVMdev] Cross-Module Function Calls
I have had great luck in the last couple of months getting llvm to do cool stuff with directly linked modules using llvm-as and llvm-ld. Now, I would like to get some of the same functionality working through an ExecutionEngine; however, I am having trouble making functions call across module boundaries. I know from previous discussions on this list that what I am attempting should be easy. I

can't load "geoR"
Dear R list, I've just installed R and then followed the instructions to install the package "geoR" from within R by using the following line of code: install.packages("geoR", contriburl = "http://www.est.ufpr.br/geoR/windows") This installed okay under the folder C:\documents and settings\ ... But when I follow the instructions in the illustrative session

[amr] raid config went from RAID5 to RAID0 ?
I just noticed something very strange on one of our Dell PE1750 servers. It is running FreeBSD 4-STABLE on dual CPU's with the embedded Dell Raid controller (amr driver). Attached are 3 disks of 145GB. On a RAID5 logical drive this gives me ~280GB storage. Up until the last reboot (35 days ago) the 'amrcontrol' status utility gave me: Logical drive 0 Stipes blah Size blah

Improving partial lookup results
Incidentally, if you're actually aiming to match different forms of a name (Peter vs Pete, Ann vs Anne vs Annette) then you might find the synonym feature a better option than wildcarding. You'd need to give it a list of names to treat as synonyms, but it should have many fewer false positives, and can also handle cases which aren't just a substring - e.g. Robert vs Rob vs Bob vs

Speaking of SATA
Hi, I installed CentOS on a 1U server with a SI SATA Controller According to lspci a CMD Technology Inc Silicon Image SiI 3112 SATARaid Controller (#2) (rev 2) The problem is for some reason the system came up without DMA. Of course this means terrible IO performance. Aside from setting it with hdparm is there a way to have it do this on boot? Is this a known issue? Terrence

Linux, Maildir over NFS, Locking problems
Hi, I am having problems with file locks with my NFS mounted Maildir setup. NFS Client/IMAP Server is RHEL3 clone whitebox and NFS server is a Fedora Core 2 system. Both are running lockd as far as I can tell. dovecot is installed with Dag's latest dovecot RPMs for RHEL3. Time is synced between the two systems. Here is the pertinent log file entry dovecot: Dovecot starting up Apr 7

win2k vs smbmount, number of cifs ops required
I'm working on some data pipeline issues, and found some interesting results in comparing win2k vs samba. The volume being mounted is a NetApp 960. NetApp provides a way see the # of cifs operations on a given volume/qtree. So I compared how many ops are generated by copying a 12MB file ( a single 2k image ). The initial reasoning behind this testing was seeing if copying a file at the end

Integration with MS Active Directory
Hello all, I'm following the howto <http://wiki.freeradius.org/FreeRADIUS_Active_Directory_Integration_HOWTO> http://wiki.freeradius.org/FreeRADIUS_Active_Directory_Integration_HOWTO to integrate FreeRadius with Microsoft's AD. The first steps are to make the linux box integrate with MS Active Directory, using some of the samba tools. While working on this, I experienced some

NetApp vfiler example scripts
Hi, For anyone who is interested; I created some basic scripts based on my current iSCSI block script. http://kinkrsoftware.nl/contrib/xen/block-netapp http://kinkrsoftware.nl/contrib/xen/netapp-lun.py Basically these two scripts allow you to start a vfiler with a qtree of customers. You log in the NetApp upon boot, and can use: netapp://customer1/disk1 It is work in progress... because I
