zvol used apparently greater than volsize for sparse volume
What does it mean for the reported value of a zvol volsize to be less than the product of used and compressratio? For example, # zfs get -p all home1/home1mm01 NAME PROPERTY VALUE SOURCE home1/home1mm01 type volume - home1/home1mm01 creation 1254440045 - home1/home1mm01 used 14902492672

Kernel panic receiving incremental snapshots
Before I open a new case with Sun, I am wondering if anyone has seen this kernel panic before? It happened on an X4500 running Sol10U3 while it was receiving incremental snapshot updates. Thanks. How to exclude directories from source with --relative
I have been unable to figure out how to exclude directories that only exist on the source side when running rsync version 3.0.2 with --relative. Here is an artificial test that shows my problem in case 3). Any help would be appreciated. # mkdir -p /tmp/source/a/b /tmp/source/a/c # touch /tmp/source/a/b/hello /tmp/source/a/c/world 1) Try mirroring both b/ and c/, this works: # rsync -avn

zpool degraded status after resilver completed
I am curious why zpool status reports a pool to be in the DEGRADED state after a drive in a raidz2 vdev has been successfully replaced. In this particular case drive c0t6d0 was failing so I ran, zpool offline home/c0t6d0 zpool replace home c0t6d0 c8t1d0 and after the resilvering finished the pool reports a degraded state. Hopefully this is incorrect. At this point is the vdev in question now has

Crossrealm Kerberos problems
I am running dovecot 2.1.7 on Debian Squeeze 64 bit, config information at the end of the email. I am working on a Kerberos/GSSAPI based setup that requires cross-realm authentication. I have regular GSSAPI working, I can log in using pam_krb5 with password based logins or with the GSSAPI support when using a kerberos ticket in the default realm. However when I attempt to authenticate using

X4500 device disconnect problem persists
After applying 125205-07 on two X4500 machines running Sol10U4 and removing "set sata:sata_func_enable = 0x5" from /etc/system to re-enable NCQ, I am again observing drive disconnect error messages. This in spite of the patch description which claims multiple fixes in this area: 6587133 repeated DMA command timeouts and device resets on x4500 6538627 x4500 message logs contain multiple

error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at token.c(288)
I am getting the following error when mirroring part of the RedHat distribution tree over a slow connection (~T1 speed). When running over a faster network (100BaseT) the problem does not appear. Note, the problem file a large 600MB ISO image, whereas other small files appear to be fine. rsync: open connection using /path/ssh remote.host /path/rsync --server -vlHogDtprRz --timeout=600 --delete

missing rh-git29-git package
Hi Centos Team, It seems this is partially resolved. The issue now is that rh-git29-runtime cannot be found by yum but the package itself is in the repo directory: http://mirrors.usc.edu/pub/linux/distributions/centos/7/sclo/x86_64/rh/rh-git29/rh-git29-runtime-2.3-4.el7.x86_64.rpm [root at ldas-pcdev4 ~]# yum install rh-git29-git Loaded plugins: auto-update-debuginfo, langpacks, priorities

Hi. We wish to install rh-git29 from the Software Collections repo and it's failing because of a missing rh-git29-git package. It appears to be absent still on the latest Centos 7.3. distro. AEC learning behaviour
Hi, I already implemented and posted a patch to do this serialization a few weeks ago. http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.audio.compression.speex.devel/6913 It is not integrated into the main git tree though. mdadm --readonly which device in halt?
Setting up nut on a system where an LVM volume holds the root filesystem.. What is the appropriate device form to use with "mdadm --readonly" in halt? This is on a CentOS 5 system. So far I have found three possibilities, but I do not know which one (if any) will still be valid that late in the halt procedure: 1. /dev/md0 (from posts on the net) 2.

RFE: allow zfs to interpret ''.'' as da datatset?
Hi, I''d like to be able to utter cmdlines such as $ zfs set readonly=on . $ zfs snapshot . at now with ''.'' interpreted to mean the dataset corresponding to the current working directory. This would shorten what I find to be a very common operaration - that of discovering your current (working directory) dataset and performing some operation on it. I usally do this

DRY DRY DRY
Hello everyone! Ive been on rails for the last month or so and really enjoyed this framework. However its very hard to find documentation on how to do things right! For example every beginner after a while realizes that having similar CRUD actions in every controller and views for them is not DRY at all! Few days ago I found http://dereksivers.com/rails-shared-controller.html I quite like his

Bug#305932: rsync on a directory transfers the files of this directory
Hi, I got the following report from a Debian user, about --files-from transferring the contents of a dir (i.e. including the files in it) specified in the input, even thugh the files aren't listed in the input. This happens only when the dir name ends with a slash. I asked him to cook up a script to reproduce this (as it wasn't quite clear to me at first what happened exactly). Any

KISS and DRY? Not even close!
Hi all, After working on my first rails app and having handed over some very sophisticated coding from a lot of you guys. My app does what I want it to do, but I''m no where near the end yet, and it seems that the KISS and DRY objectives already went down the drain. It could be lack of knowledge, only doing Ruby on (and) Rails for a month, but I''m stuck on the following:
