Let me start with a reference to Nazis, just so we can reach the Godwin-point and be done with it. If somebody thinks they can improve the documentation let them submit a patch. This provides something concrete for people to comment on and the maintainers can make a decision as to whether they want to make the proposed change. Until I see something in writing I've no opinion one way or

rpcclient man page and "--help"
There seems to be some discrepancy between rpcclient's man page and "rpcclient --help" in regards to the servername. It seems that the proper usage of rpcclient is rpcclient [options] server this is the format that is specified in "rpcclient --help." rpcclient's man page, however specifies that the servername should come directly after rpcclient. Improvements to man page for --no-implied-dirs and --keep-dirlinks
Wayne, Attached is a patch worth of suggested man page improvements for --no-implied-dirs and --keep-dirlinks. I think new users would find my explanations clearer and more complete, although you may want to make additional changes. I regenerated rsync.1 and the patch includes changes to it, but my yodl is somewhat weird, so I suggest you run yodl again yourself. -- Matt McCutchen

I would agree. Plus he said this was something he did to help his wife. It is entirely possible that he runs a Samba server to assists a non-technical wife just like a corporate IT department would do. I appreciate the parable of helping non-technical users (or, more precisely, users not keen on IT). As I understand, placement of software like Word or Photoshop servers this purpose. But both of them have decent open-source counterparts, and they are better fit for an rsync manual. Or, if from any reason proprietary software is preferred in this context (perhaps because it generates even more

Nah, this is the first time I've posted here in years. Gennaly things just tick over with the application moving along in a nice straightforward manner, improvment upon improvement. Rsync is one of the mose important and usefu apps available for Linux and OS X (powered by APPLE!!!!); followed by ffmpeg and vlc (and Apache, I guess, but I don't do much of that anymore). The docs are very

I would rather the maintainers would spend their time improving the application, and not worrying aobut the OP's hurt little open-sourced religious feelings. I use rsync to transfer pretty massive (wait for it) ADOBE PHOTOSHOP files around my LAN. Neener neener fucken neener. On Wed, Jul 27, 2016 at 11:37 AM, Karl O. Bad update man-1.6d-2.el5.i386?
Hi, I noticed the man update for my CentOS-5 kept popping up a couple of times, so instead of using yum-updatesd from the desktop I tried doing a yum update by hand. The update fails, even after removing the package from the cache: Error unpacking rpm package man-1.6d-2.el5.i386 error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/share/locale/bg/man: cpio: rename Failed: man.i386 0:1.6d-2.el5

[LLVMdev] Garbage collection implementation
I am using LLVM as the last stage of a compiler in order to easily produce a binary in native code. My compiler is implemented in Ocaml and has various layers of languages. In the last layer prior to LLVM, I have a value which has been converted to CPS, closure and hoisting (of functions). I am now trying to write a garbage collector for this language. The shadow stack is not suitable for me,

Asterisk 13.15.0, webrtc, Google chrome 58 beta and "bad media description"
Hello, I've been using webrtc (Jscommunicator) with Asterisk occasionally. Only problem until now which remained was that if dtls_rekey was set to the value other than 0, call hanged up when using chrome after the time where dtls_rekey was set. I suppose that "bad media description" shown in Chrome's window which causes call to fail, has appeared with Chromes newer versions

ssh-agent man page misformatted with ./configure --with-mantype=man
I've noticed in 5.4p1 and 5.5p1 that the man page for ssh-agent is misformatted when using --with-mantype=man. In DESCRIPTION, all text after -t life is indented. The line that begins "If a commandline is given..." looks as if it's part of the -t option.

Formatting bug in rsync man page? (man -k, whatis, catman -w)
Hi guys, I'm new to this mailing list as I just came across a small problem after installing the rsync package on one of our Solaris 10 machines. I installed rsync package SMCrsync v3.0.7 SPARC and although command man rsync worked, man -k rsync and whatis rsync did not despite the fact that I had run a catman -w to rebuild the windex databases. After reading the catman man page, I suspected
