Anova
Hi all, I apologize for what might be a silly question. I am interested in doing a one way anova. This is not too hard in and of itself, either with anova, aov or oneway.test . However, I need to 1) get pvalues, 2) do a posthoc analysis with Tukey HSD, 3) and have (sometimes) an unbalanced design. I just can't seem to put all the pieces together. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Dan.

CentOS 3.5 to 3.6 yum dependency issues
When I do a yum update I get a couple of dependency issues: I see this one on every box I try to upgrade.. Package nptl-devel needs glibc-devel = 2.3.2-95.33, this is not available. I've only seen this one a couple of times.. Package up2date needs rpm >= 4.2.3-24_nonptl, this is not available. Tim

rsync-2.5.6 build on Red Hat 8.0 fails
The packaging/lsb/rsync.spec file is broken as shipped: It has a "Sept" month (rpmbuild here takes only 3-letter month names), and RH gzips the manpages, so the %files list can't find them. I also added doc/README-SGML and doc/rsync.sgml to the %doc files. Patch follows. Thanks for all the good work! --- rsync-2.5.6/packaging/lsb/rsync.spec.orig 2003-01-28 06:28:35.000000000 +0100

Is there a parameter in rsync to clean $BACKUPDIR before writing to it (--backup-dir=$BACKUPDIR)?
Hi, I am runing rsync --backup --backup-dir=$BACKUPDIR where the BACKUPDIR=$(date +%d) to recycle the $BACKUPDIR in a month. But rsync does not clean the $BACKUPDIR before writing to it in cycling. I guess you have to clean it manually before the rsync can write to it. As my $BACKUPDIR is in remote machine, do you have to run ssh to delete it first before calling rsync in a script? Or if there

Hi Kevin, Thank you very much for the response. Actually, I don't think I need to clean the backup dir defined in --backup-dir=<backup dir>, when the contents has already been deleted in the destination (no exist), it will delete from the backup dir as well in next cycle, correct? Non-R question.
Hola! I have a problem which is not strictly R, although R will be used for the analysis. We have data from a large investigation of drug abuse, initially analyzed by logistic regression. But the pupils are selected by first sampling schools, and as it happens the prevalence of use varies sharply from school to school, so there is over-dispersion. Now we are interested in comparing the
