"Failed to create rounding.h!" during make
Hello All, I'm attempting to compile rsync on Solaris 10 x86 to include atime support. I've managed to patch the source, and install gcc and the necessary other packages necessary to get as far as ./configure successfully (I'm afraid I'm more of a linux than a solaris guy). I'm unable to "make" the Makefile. Did some STFW'ing and have found several variations

openssh 3.7.1p2 fault on solaris 9 for sparc when built as 64-bit
I built OpenSSH as a 64-bit binary on Solaris 9, using gcc 3.3.2, OpenSSL 0.9.7c and zlib 1.2.1. sshd starts up normally, and will begin the login session, however, some time after it reads /etc/default/login, it faults and kills the connection. There are no error messages logged to syslog (with LogLevel set to DEBUG) or with the -ddd option. Here's a truss of the failure: 8132:

Add new user -> swat core dump
Hi there, I have a problem when I try to create a new user with swat. I use binaries of Samba 2.2.2 coming from www.samba.org, or from www.sunfreeware.com on Solaris 2.6 and on 8. I compiled the sources and the result is the same. When I click on "Add New User" (Server Password Management), I receive a nearly blank page: I can only see the samba gif on top and the user is not

dovecotpw/sql crypt scheme core dump with rc17-19
Platform is Solaris 8 on a 280R. I'm setting up a new installation of Dovecot, and I ran into some troubles that I've partly tracked down. I setup auth/user dbs with LDAP initially, and things worked well. Passwords are stored as "{crypt}zxcv..." in LDAP. I setup SQL, and began getting this: dovecot: Jan 23 16:37:47 Error: child 8718 (auth-worker) killed with signal 11

OpenPAM/SSHD privacy hole (FreeBSD 9.2+ affected)
Hello, I found that in the new FreeBSD 9.2 (probably in 10 also) updated OpenPAM sources. The big embarrassment was in pam_get_authtok.c. The problem is that even without a valid SSH login it's possible to know the server's hostname. az at az:/home/az % ssh 1.2.3.4 Password for az at real.hostname.com: Changes made by "des":

sshd (openssh 3.7.1p1) dies during login on Solaris 8 system with SRM installed
I have compiled ssh 3.7.1p1 using gcc and am trying to get it to run on our Solaris 8 systems running Sun's SRM system. With existing users it is fine, but with a new user, the user can not ssh in on the first login, they get the message from SRM that no lnode has been created. I put sshd in debug and found that it SEG's here: debug3: mm_sshpam_free_ctx: waiting for

So, AFAIK, they should be identical. But I put some printfs and sleeps around and it wasn't a synchronization issue. My man page says that SIGUSR1 should terminate if there isn't a handler for

Apple patch 10
Patch #10 allows the pop3 and imap mail processes to handle multiple clients. We know this weakens the security model but it greatly increases scalability especially when clients are idle. Here's how it works. When there are no mail processes, or none serving fewer than mail_max_connections clients, the master creates a new mail process pretty much like it does now, but with some

problem with samba 3.0.28/Solaris 8/smbclient
Dear Samba users, I am trying to update our local samba packages to 3.0.28. They are built against heimdal-1.0.1 and openldap-2.3.38. The Redhat Enterprise Linux 3 and 4 packages are working fine so far in my limited testing. The problem with heimdal and "net ads join..." has been fixed on all 3 platforms. On the Solaris 8 server, the "net ads join..." works correctly and the

Help! Uidlist files are gone and won't come back; imap keeps coredumping!
Folks - Some time ago as I migrated to dovecot 1.0, I ran into all sorts of problems with file locks, and I tried various solutions. Apparently, in the process, I got a bit careless and removed all my dovecot-uidlist files. They're gone. My understanding, however, is that they should come back, but this doesn't happen. I've been forced to run with index=MEMORY in 1.0 for

SIGINT is a bad choice for changing log levels
Guus, I would like to ask you to reconsider using SIGINT for logging change. It?s a pain to kill tincd when started from the command line. Ctrl-C does not work as expected. Great for debugging perhaps, but in normal use cases, when trying to make a connection work and test changes it?s a pain. On BSD there is SIGINFO (29), which can be sent by pressing Ctrl-T, but I am not sure whether that
