Problem with openssh on linux 2.0.34 mips
Hi
I tried to compile openssh 3.3p1 on a linux 2.0.34 mips system. First I
was not able to compile it at all, but then I added the following line
to monitor_fdpass.c
#define SCM_RIGHTS 0x01
Then it compiled fine, but I am not able to log in. After having entered
the password I get the following message in the logfile:
Jun 25 20:25:46 raq2 sshd[16129]: fatal: mm_receive_fd: expected type 1

10th anniversary of tinc 1.0
Hello everyone,
Today is exactly 10 years ago that tinc 1.0 was released. I would have hoped to
celebrate this by releasing 1.0.22 and 1.1pre8 today, but this will instead
happen in one week.
Tinc 1.1 is close to becoming stable, and I hope to release 1.1.0 before the
end of the year. The main features of tinc 1.1 are the improved security over
tinc 1.0, and a much nicer interface that makes it

Problem in e2fsck ? read error in journal inode
Hi
I'm experiencing some problems on a harddisk (it has crashed for no known reason),
and in pursuit of getting some of the data out of the disk I'm learning to use the
e2fs progs package.
Origianlly I used version 1.38, but after experiencing segfaults in e2fsck -which now is solved,
I upgraded to 1.39, but now I have hit another problem (on another partition):
The partition was

Is ZFS internal reservation excessive?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
zpool and zfs report different free space because zfs takes into account
an internal reservation of 32MB or 1/64 of the capacity of the pool,
what is bigger.
So in a 2TB Harddisk, the reservation would be 32 gigabytes. Seems a bit
excessive to me...

Why are the binaries so huge?
Hi list
I just compiled 3.0rc1 on Solaris 9 (UltraSparc IIe) with gcc 3.3. Seems
to work fine but I am surprised by the enormous size of the binaries:

Local copy (root to mounted subdir) wanted - protocol error in io.c
Hello everybody,
maybe someone has also had this issue:
I try to copy the root partition "/" to a subdir "/Volumes/System". This is
not a cyclic recursion, because "/Volumes/System" is a mounted hard disk
partition. So I gave rsync the parameters "-x" for one-file-system, and
'--exclude "/Volumes/" ' also:
# rsync -ax --showtogo

Linux performance bug: fsync() for files with zero links
Linux kernel (as of 2.6.15.4) has the following performance bug:
Syncing (fsync() or fdatasync()) files with zero links (deleted files) in not
no-op, as it should be.
See details, a test C program, and the rationale in the URL below:

In the article with the URL above it is also explained how to make much

Include local files when running R remotely
I run R on a remote UNIX server where the data are stored that I ssh into
through Emacs, while I store my R scripts on local Windows network drives.
So far this arrangement hasn't been a problem, though now I'd like to use
source() or a similar function to include other R scripts to get a better
handle on my process management. Is this possible when running R remotely?
When I try to use

Cannot use kickstart file to install CentOS 6.2 into a blank harddisk
I am trying using a kickstart file to install CentOS 6.2 into a new virtual machine (the MBR sector
of the harddisk is all zero), however I found that the installer cannot go through the harddisk
partition. It failed after I chose "Use All Space" at harddisk partition option.
The error message is:

Harddisk support not working
Hi!
after experimenting for days with xen I was finally able to narrow down
why my xen setup is not working properly. When I add a harddisk to the
guest system the guest system slows down so much that it becomes
impossible to boot. In my hvm testsystem the guest system is a knoppix
cd. When booting from the cd without having a harddisk in the guest
system everything works perfectly. But as soon

Hi,
I have a mailgw running Centos where trendmicro(IMSS) is installed. it
