appending collums in for loop
Hoi All, I am trying to append collums to a data frame in a for loop. I read in tables, do some processing and then write the result to a data.frame. But, the thing I want is, that the results are appended to the data frame in stead of overwriting the results of the prevous table. It has to look something like this: After going trough the loop once: Array 1 1 2 3 4 5 After going

Feature req: multiple source trees
Hi everybody, I want to share a feature request I wrote here some time ago. I'd like to give rsync more than 1 source-tree, where the "sum" (as described below) is rsync'd to the destination. suppose I have some machines, which have almost the same configuration, different only in small details. Then I want to rsync all machines from a master, with the details as specific to

Weird XP synchronisation issue. Using old cached IP?
First, a little background: I successfully migrated the samba PDC funtionality from an old Suse machine to a new debian-based one. The old machine was named PHOENIX and had an ip address of 10.10.10.4. The new one has the same name but is on 10.10.10.14. Everything is working just fine with this new domain (authentication, adding users, computers, printing etc), except for one laptop. Since the

PATCH: --write-devices to allow synchronising to a block device
Hi List, I had a need recently to efficiently synchronise between some large LUNs (boot drive disks) at two different datacentres. Solutions like drbd and $proprietary_array_vendors_software were overkill - we only needed (wanted!) to periodically synchronise these LUNs whenever major changes were generated on the source. On the other hand however, re-sending the entire disk contents each time

Data loss (corruption with rsync)
Hello, I just rsync'd my 1TB partitions formated with jfs filesystem containing ~720GB data. I saw -3G difference between source and destination which made me suspect possible dataloss. Also I had experienced loss of integrity on my previous copies but I did not find the cause until now. As command line I used following: sh-3.2# rsync --verbose --sparse --append-verify --fuzzy --progress

Synchronising Japanese Characters in Rsync
Hi there, I have searched the rsync website, as well as an extensive search on google, but have been unable to come up with a definitive answer regarding whether rsync will synchronise files and directories which have Japanese characters in them. I am using an English language version of Linux, which has some directories shared via samba. Both English and Japanese language windows clients

use samba timeserver for linux box
Hello. I have a small network with a dialup connection to the internet. When the server is online to collect mail, etc I use ntpdate to synchronise it with a local timeserver. The windows machines on the network set their time using the timeserver in Samba with a "net time ..." bat file. This works well. I would like to synchronise the linux machines using the samba time server

Assertions for asynchronous behaviour
Hi all, In GOOS[1] they use an assertion called assertEventually which samples the system for a success state until a certain timeout has elapsed. This allows you to synchronise the tests with asynchronous code. Do we have an equivalent of that in the Ruby / RSpec world already? I know capybara has wait_until { } but that''s fairly rudimentary - the failure message isn''t very

rsync bug recreating header.info
If this is not the correct place to post this I apologize. I am having a problem with rsync not setting the correct permissions on the rsync'd files. I have rsync 2.6.3 running on a Windows 2003 server using cygwin. I rsync the fedora core 2 updates to my server for internal use. The problem is after the rsync, the header.info file is no longer accessible to anyone and the other rsync'd

synchronise time
Hi, in my logon.bat file i put : net time \\admin /SET /YES to synchronise computer time with the server. This works when the user who is login in has administrator rights on the computer. How can i do with users who are just "member of the domain"? Is there a way to run this command "as administrator" ? Thanks for any help

[LLVMdev] Release Manager Position
After several years as LLVM release manager, I’ve decided to step down as release manager. I recently haven’t been able to focus as much time on LLVM development as I should, and I don’t want the releases to suffer because of that. I’ve enjoyed all of the releases I’ve done. We have a great team of testers. And the community as a whole really helps out so that we can produce a great produce. I my

Duplicate record weirdness ?
First off BackgroundRb rocks!!!!. Top marks Ezra, it''s gone a long way to stopping us from doing a nasty curl/cron hack :) Okay so here''s what we''re using it for. We''re synchronising data from a Filemaker database, via web service equest, into a mysql database via a rails model called ''Syncer'' [How''s that for an oddball use case!].

Better APPEND performance
Moving a large number of messages into an IMAP folder on a dovecot server takes quite a long time. This is a popular operation for users migrating their stored messages from their old mail servers through a mail user agent, and it causes a poor first impression of dovecot. I'd like your help to speed this up. I have studied this problem in recent versions, including 1.1.[17-19]

file corruption
Hi, I am backing up about 500G of data from a linux-based NAS to a USB hard drive attached to a router (rt-n16 with tomatousb firmware). Both NAS and the router have rsync-3.0.9. The router is running rsync in the daemon mode. To test the set up, I rsync'd the files to the empty USB hard drive, then back to the NAS in a new temp dir. Afterwards, I did a local "diff -r" on the NAS.

Gracias

Question on "base directory"
Hi, I've read the manpage, but I got a simple question on the expression "base directory" used in the "exclude patterns"-section. When I synchronize ie: rsync -avzu /home/gregor/ notebook:/home/gregor/ and want to use an exclude-pattern: --exclude "/foo", what is the base directory? The manpage's explanation is following: --exclude "/foo" would
