Zone update denied
I'm not quite sure how to ask this question because I don't really know what's going on, but I'm seeing an error I don't understand. It appears that when updating the sone record, something is not working right, but I'm not use what it is The logs have an error like this: client @0x7f7bd4089880 192.168.7.144#57386: update 'internal.kcs/IN' denied It is then

Securring DHCP, with DDNS
You may have 2 dhcps running, but you have to make sure the lease ranges are different. The first dns server stanza should refer to the server which gets the lease update. For the dns servers you would need to define each other as forwarder, probably by ip range, to be able to resolve the other (half of the) names. -- W.Mautner (Walter.mautner at ages.at) +43050555111 IKT Hotline > Am

Im wondering why your log below shows this order, i just noticed. Why is the computer tring to set the A records 2 x. Lines 1-13, show a successfull commit of the A/AAAA records. ( TSIG key ok ) If you count the below lines, after line 13, my logs shows. samba_dlz: starting transaction on zone 1.168.192.in-addr.arpa Yours is trying again to update samba_dlz: starting transaction on zone

Hai, If the primary domain is set in windows, which is after domain join, it used that. Ipconfig /all and see primary DNS suffix. The dns suffix and first dns search list should be the same. Yes, other settings are possible, but stick to this for now. The Primay DNS suffix is used for the register of the IP in the DNS. The DHCP Service User MUST be a member of the DNSAdmins. The DHCP

Rowland.. the solution to the failover came after we advices to setup with 2 servers and manualy start them up.. Maybe its best we put this on the samba wiki? Would help a lot of users. Dynamic DNS Update problem -- Ubuntu 12.04
Hello, I've been struggling with this issue for a few days now. My configuration is pretty much a stock Ubuntu 12.04 server, with samba4 and bind9 installed from packages. Samba - 4.0.0alpha18 bind - 9.8.1-P1 I've recompiled the bind package to add dlz support (added flag --with-dlopen), but I'm getting an error whenever a domain client connects and attempts to update its DNS

Samba 4.2.14 Group Policy (GPO) sync error
Even some more observations. I noticed when I join my machine to AD it prompts a second time for the credentials. It does not matter what I enter or even cancel the dialog it will always display an error: Changing the Primary Domain DNS name of this computer to "" failed. The name will remain "ad.cyberdyne.local". Well, actualy this is what I want anyway. I found this

ddns update fails for reverse zone
Hi everyone. I have a Linux nsupdate client sending dns update requests via sssd. Just gone from 4.1.2 to 4.1.3. I've done this: http://linuxcostablanca.blogspot.com.es/2013/09/samba4-bind9dlz-stale-dns-records-with.html After which the forward zone update is working fine: 2014-01-10T12:32:35.376142+01:00 hh16 named[4963]: samba_dlz: starting transaction on zone hh3.site

I couldn't actually spot something strange. I also watched the query log during gpupdate and didn't find anything special there.
