NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED with smbclient and samba 4.0.6
Hello, I'm trying to install samba 4 as a DC following this tutorial https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO. Ihave reached the step of testing the connectivity to the DC with smbclient [root at DC-TEST ~]# /usr/local/samba/bin/smbclient -L localhost -U% session setup failed: NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED Samba 4 has started successfully [root at DC-TEST ~]# netstat -lntp

Building a replacement Samba4 server to replace a Samba3 system, running into file rights issues.
I am building a Samba4 setup to replace a Samba3 server I built for small non profit school back in 2012. It is running CentOS 6.x, samba version 3.6.23-52.el6_10.? Rather than attempt to upgrade this system to Samba4, it makes more sense (to me at least) to build a new server and move the data. Currently I have 2 samba servers running as virtual machines under kvm.? One is the AD server,

ldb errors after upgrade, cause?
Hai Roel, Ah, ok, so you have hitted a bug. Might be : https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13959 https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14062 You have a few options, patch it yourself or report it at debian. Or Upgrade debian to bullseye. Or use my repo and stay on buster. Then you have the option goto 4.10.latest or 4.11.latest (sorry i have not ported 4.9.latest to buster )

No DNS domain configured
See below, basicly what now happend is. This one line : > 127.0.1.1 gaia.rompen.local gaia <<<< CHANGE THIS Is what is your problem. Read throught the settings, you need a few changes. Its mostly good. After the changes, reboot the AD-DC. Then after its rebooted and after the changes for the member, reboot that also. Then is should be ok. Greetz, Louis >

ldb errors after upgrade, cause?
L.P.H. van Belle via samba writes: > Is samba-dsdb-modules installed ? Yes, I checked again, and all packages are installed, all of them with the proper version, and no leftovers. This server works fine for a half a day, and then these errors happen, so I think it's unlikely that it's related to the install itself. I have already made a backup of all tdb files with tdbbackup and

ldb errors after upgrade, cause?
Hi list, for future reference: we haven't been able to fix it. Upgrading to 4.9.18 didn't help, so in the end we decided to downgrade to our previous version (4.5.12) which doesn't have this problem. Hooray for tdbbackup! Thanks Louis for thinking with us. Best regards, Roel And for Google: smbd[16461]: ldb: Failure during ltdb_lock_read(): Locking error ? Busy smbd[16461]:

Problem transfering fsmo roles.
Hi, I have a Samba domain which currently has 4 DC's. I am in the process of trying to remove the old 4.8.12 self compiled DC's and ultimately replace them with (2) 4.12.8 DC's on Buster with samba from the VanBelle repo. Due to an error in my apt configuration I currently have 2 4.11.14 DC's running on Buster. If I try to transfer the roles from one of the 4.8.12 DC's to one
