can't delete recursive DNS entry
Dear Mani The subdomain was created using the DNS RSAT Tool. Focus was on briesebaer.intern and with a right cllick I choose to create a domain. There I gave the new domain the name briesebaer.intern. After this it was as described before. This are the results of the DNS Lookups you requested. root at DRAGO:~# samba-tool dns query drago briesebaer.intern intern ALL -U administrator Password for

can't delete recursive DNS entry
Dear Michael How have you created the subdomain? to look it up you have to exchange the @ with the name you want to see samba-tool dns query drago briesebaer.intern intern ALL and further down than: samba-tool dns query drago briesebaer.intern briesebaer.intern ALL Mani On 17.11.2020 07:36, Michael Thiemann via samba wrote: > Due to a mistake I created a subdomain with the name of the

can't delete recursive DNS entry
Interesting........... I tried the same; with the same result: my domain looks ( according samba-tools) like a copy from my domain in my domain, but the RSAT DNS tool (win 7 version) is showing "intern" and there are no items to show. The Active directory Explorer from Sysinternals shows it as "DC=briesebaer.intern;DC...." but no dnsProperty or dnsRecord........... It is

Samba + BIND9 DLZ. DNS dosen't resolve FQDN, only short hostname
Rowland, thank You, but this removes only the NS record, but the faulty domain A records remain. How to deal with them, I don't know. They behave unlike the ordinary A records. Unable to Set TTL for Name Server Record
I noticed when Samba initially created a NS it gave it a ttl=900. If I delete this record from my zone and create a new one. It gives the NS a ttl=0. Attempting to set using Microsoft DNS tools does not take. Can this be done any other way? Using samba-tool? Thanks. Inconsistent SOA records from different Samba AD-DC DNS servers
Hi all, I am experiencing strange behaviour regarding DNS resolution with my samba-driven AD. This is with Debian-packaged samba on raspberry Pi: # samba -V Version 4.19.5-Debian # uname -a Linux dc3.ad.mydomain.tld 6.1.0-rpi8-rpi-v8 #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 1:6.1.73-1+rpt1 (2024-01-25) aarch64 GNU/Linux I would expect that every DNS server of the domain would respond with the same SOA record. vestigial DNS entries
I am running samba 4.2.0 as an AD with internal DNS. I had an earlier version of Samba4 that was running old code and the system had gotten cluttered up from my learning process. I chose to replace it by bringing up a new Samba4 DC, letting them sync, then promote the new, and demote the old. That all worked flawlessly. Eventually I destroyed the old Samba4 system. Today I tried to play
