Some strange errors in logs
Hai,
cat "/var/lib/samba/private/named.conf" also please.
And check if the correct bind9_dlz is enabled.
dpkg -l | grep bind9
Jessie, should be 9.9
Stretch should be 9.10
If this server was upgraded then you need to manualy adjust the file above.
Looks to my bind9-dlz is enable in smb.conf but not loaded.
cat /var/log/daemon.log | grep dlz
You should see thing like:

pad length mismatch error message
Hi,
I found the following error message in the log.samba:
[2020/04/20 16:32:33.168921, 1] ../../librpc/rpc/dcerpc_util.c:373(dcerpc_pull_auth_trailer)
../../librpc/rpc/dcerpc_util.c:373: ERROR: pad length mismatch. Calculated 44 got 0
It happens on all nodes on different times, but unfortunately I have no specific situation or action which causes this.
We are currently using Samba version

+1 "penny" :-) :-) for my thoughts.. :-p
But yes, that should fix it.
I also suggest, review your logs, you wil notice more messages.
Rsyslog/apt/snmp/postfix/ntp need manual changes after the upgrade.
At least these, maybe more but these are the one i've encountered.

User accounts being blocked
Dear James,
Thanks for the input.
Even increasing from 5 to 10, the amount of times to miss the password and lock the account (after changing, I wheeled a gpupdate / force), if you miss 3 times the account is locked.
I changed smb.conf log level to 9.
I tried to unlock the account using the samba-tool command line, but without success, because I can only unlock using the RSAT.
I get these

Are you using the "samba-tool domain passwordsettings" command to set the
lockout policy, or are you using group policy?

Well,
If you running with bind9_DLZ, you also should enable it.
Based on what i see below, its not enable, you installed it your not done yet. ;-)
Verify the settings ( debianize the paths )
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/BIND9_DLZ_DNS_Back_End
Then then its all done, reboot the server.
Run this script, anonimized it and post the content to the list.
Then i know all i want to know.

winbind errors for trusted domain (of a one-way trust)
Hi,
Our AD domain "A.COM" has a one-way trust with "B.COM" with B.COM being
the trusted domain.
We have a samba server that is joined to A.COM on which users of B.COM
need access. We have samba and winbind configured and it seems to be
working correctly except for the following message that keeps on
appearing in the log.wb-B logfile:

virt-v2v
Hello!
Libguestfs in CentOS 7.2 is really old.
When it will be updated to more recent version to support Oracle Linux conversion via virt-v2v, for example ?
Thank you.

Vista over VPN loses connection with workgroup
I've a server running CentOS 5, Samba 3.0.23c and OpenVPN-2.1beta4
A laptop running Vista connects to the server over VPN. The CentOS
server is local, domain and preferred master, and also WINS server.
It looks like every once in a while the Vista laptop drops the VPN
connection, which gets re-established soon after that. But the problem
is, it appears that after the dropout the Vista

pad length mismatch error message
Hi,
bind9_DLZ is enabled and running, DNS in general is working absolutely fine.
--dns-backend=BIND9_DLZ was used during provision and your collect script also says it's enabled.
Like I said in the other issue, the AC-DC in general is working fine... the posted error message is just something I can't explain, where it comes from...
Best regards
Daniel

I see multiple things that are off.. ( see Rowland message also and .. )
Dns https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_BIND_DNS_Server
Now look at the example config here and change yours acording.
Smb.conf change that or add -dns
server services = -dns
As far i can see your dns is using samba internal dns.

User accounts being blocked
Dear,
I've been noticing that constantly, some user accounts has been repeatedly blocked.
We use DC Samba 4.4.5.
Here we have a blocking policy, if the wrong password is entered more than 5 times. But most users say they do not screwed up the password. They perform the log at the beginning of working hours. After a while, they block the session and when they try to log on again, the

What Samba version are you using? I have seen a similar problem triggered
by connectivity issues between the DCs.
What's the output from samba-tool drs showrepl?
Still, I haven't found a solution...
