VFS shadowcopy2 with FeeBSD & ZFS
We have: vfs objects = shadow_copy2 zfsacl (Actually, vfs objects = shadow_copy2 zfsacl fruit streams_xattr, but I wanted to point out the order of shadow_copy2 and zfsacl). To rule out shadow:format problems, I would create just one snapshot with a simple name and configure shadow:format accordingly. Also, is /public the mountpoint of the ZFS dataset? If not, then you might need

Hello, Thank you everyone in advance for your time and support? I am the Administrator of a small network, with about 60 desktops (mostly windows 10) that connect to a Linux VM running samba for file sharing).? In the last few months I completed the transition from the Samba server running as a vm on an OpenVZ machine.? It was running Centos 6, with an older version of samba.? Now the server has

"No previous versions" - GPFS 3.5 and shadow_copy2
Hi all, At some point recently my customers can no longer see GPFS snapshots under the Windows Previous Versions tab. It simply says "No previous versions available". If a fileset is exported with the flag "force user = root" then Previous Versions *are* displayed. [2016/07/06 10:07:35.602080, 3] ../source3/smbd/vfs.c:1322(check_reduced_name) check_reduced_name:

Shadow Copy2 & zfs Snapshots
Hi there I'm having some troubles with Shadow Copy2 & zfs Snapshots. I have hourly and daily snapshots. If I use the following settings it works (but omits daily snapshots): vfs objects = shadow_copy2 shadow:snapdir = .zfs/snapshot shadow:sort = desc shadow:localtime = yes shadow:format = easysnap-hourly_%Y-%m-%d-%H-%M-UTC However when I try to use the BRE with the prefix,

vfs_shadow_copy2: permission denied - SMB_VFS_NEXT_OPENDIR() failed for '/snapshots'
Hello. I am trying to get the windows "previous versions" / shadow copies to work with our setup (samba+winbind over objectivefs). I have setup a test where I manually mounted two objectivefs snapshots in the /snapshots/ directory. Objectivefs filesystem is mounted on /ofs. When I try and look at the "previous version" in windows I get the error "there are no previous

vfs_shadow_copy2 with snapprefix & delimiter options
Hello all, I already successfully configured shadow copy service without a delimiter and regex. But as soon as I try to get this to work with regex, nothing shows up on the win client. My config looks like this: [global] shadow: localtime = yes shadow: sort = desc shadow: format = _%FT%T shadow: delimiter = _ shadow: snapprefix = ^\(monthly\)\{0,1\}\(weekly\)\{0,1\}\(daily\)\{0,1\}$

Sorting directory lists (again)
Hello list, I know this has been discussed before (June 2007 looks to be the most recent time), so apologies for covering (sort of) old ground. The lowdown is that samba uses readdir to get its directory listing and this is returned in whatever order the filesystem sees as appropriate (using ext3, it seems to be related to mtime). I have a device which accesses a share using CIFS and presents

Samba 4 classicupgrade: Error converting string to value for line:"CurrentVersion"
Hello, I've seen this upgrade error posted before: https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2013-January/171022.html but either there is a different issue or I'm misreading the post. Basically when I run the classicupgrade (samba3 to 4) on a test machine, I get the following (the full debug output will be at the end of my post): ....... key added: key=CurrentVersion, key=Windows

It seems to have bug for @group to set in valid or invalid conf
Hi all, I am using samba 4.10.7 and it seems to have bug for using @group in valid or invalid conf (?). And i can't find fixed patch in later release. I describe this issue detail below: 1. Firstly, there is my samba conf below (Add @d_group in "invalid users"): (smb_share.conf) [f1] path = /home/f1 write list = "admin" "@Administrator_Group"

shadow_copy2 not working
Hi folks, I've been trying to get shadow copy / previous versions working under sernet-samba-ad-4.1.6-7.el6.x86_64. I cannot see where I am going wrong. Fix for CVE-2015-5299 denies access to ZFS snapshots due to overly strict condition checking
OS platform: FreeBSD 10.1-RELEASE-p25 Filesystem: ZFS Samba version: upgraded from 4.1.17 to 4.1.22 Problem: I have been using the shadow_copy2 and zfsacl VFS modules to enable access control and the Previous Versions feature for Windows clients. With /usr/local/etc/smb4.conf configured this way (excerpt): vfs objects = shadow_copy2 zfsacl shadow:snapdir = .zfs/snapshot

Can one set the owner of a folder to BUILTIN\Administrators?
I've recently attempted to migrate some windows server files over to samba 4 hosted on a FreeNAS server. Using robocopy with the /copyall switch, I expected everything, including ACL's and ownership information to transfer over. For the most part they have. The one problem I've ran into however, is that I'm getting errors any time I or robocopy attempt to change the ownership to

Samba 4.9.4 drops group write permission on files (at file access time) with 'vfs objects' enabled
We just noticed an interesting bug/misfeature on our Samba 4.9.4 servers (FreeBSD 11.2). The same effect is also visible on Samba 4.8.3 on CentOS 7. Start with a directory that looks like this: root at filur00:/tmp/test # ls -la total 50 drwxrwx--- 2 peter86 uf-iti-all 3 Feb 27 11:27 . drwxrwxrwt 10 root wheel 56 Feb 27 16:41 .. -rw-rw---- 1 mikha02 uf-iti-all 6 Feb 27 11:27

Cannot access HOME folder after upgrading to 4.8 from 4.6
Hello- I upgraded Samba from 4.6 to 4.8 on a FreeBSD 11.2 server. After the upgrade, users cannot access the HOME folder share but they can access other shares just fine. I am using the RID backend on this member server that connects to Windows-based domain controllers. I apologize for the lengthy smb4.conf but here it is: #======================= Global Settings

Problems building FreeBSD file server
I have Googled my brains out without success, and I'm hoping that someone here can give me some tips. I'm trying to build a new file server, and I've concluded that ZFS is the technology that I want to use. After doing some research I settled on FreeBSD 10 as the platform to provide it. I have an existing AD domain (two Samba 4.1.4 DCs running on Debian) and the file server will be

vfs module Samba 3.5.1
We installed the Samba 3.5.1 rpms for OpenSuSE 10.2 from ftp.sernet.de. The VFS modules seem to be broken. Is this an error in the packaging or do I need to be looking else where. A snippet from the log file follows: <extracted from log> [2010/03/12 19:58:59, 0, pid=28792, effective(0, 0), real(0, 0)] smbd/vfs.c:66(smb_register_vfs) Failed to register vfs module. The module

Samba 3.4.2 with Solaris ZFS Snaphots
Hi, I'm trying to make samba working with Solaris ZFS Snaphots. Solaris 10 is running on a x64/X86 box which is both Samba (3.4.2) server and Zfs server.
