Spotlight configuration trouble
Hai, Selfcompiles samba? And which one did you use? https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Spotlight_with_Elasticsearch_Backend Or https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Spotlight_with_Gnome_Tracker_Backend I think you missed : https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Spotlight_with_Gnome_Tracker_Backend#Create_a_user_under_which_Tracker_will_run Greetz, Louis > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- >

Spotlight configuration trouble
How could I investigate this further? If I monitor session and system dbus activity with dbus-monitor I can see activity if I do ?tracker search pdf? as the mdssvc user, but nothing if I search through Samba. I only get those two errors below. So seems like Samba dbus connection isn?t working. I?ve followed the wiki very closely so to me it looks like it?s missing a step or the latest versions

Spotlight configuration trouble
Hi Louis, I used your excellent packages but also tried building from source. I?m trying to get Tracker working. Elasticsearch was simpler to get going but it doesn?t really suite the use case due to limitations in fscrawler. I actually created the mdssvc user but also tried directly under root once the dedicated user didn?t work. The problem might be somewhere in D-Bus configuration but I

vfs_fruit & resource forks on macOS
From version 4.10.6 onwards folder icons are not working anymore on macOS. I can see the "._Icon?? file written on disk but seems like Samba isn?t reading it back and presenting it to the client. Is there a change or new setting that is needed on more recent versions, or have I hit a bug? I noticed 4.10.6 had some work done regarding AppleDouble and resource forks. In the client log I?m

Huge memory comsumption with foreign and RPgSQL
I know this is something R isn't meant to do well but I tried it anyway :) I have this SPSS-datafile (size 31 MB). When I converted it to a R object with read.spss("datafile.sav") I ended up with a .RData-file which was 229 MB big. Is this considered normal? Then I tried to dump that object into a database with RPgSQL-package function db.write.table(object) (Memory ran out first

Extended attributes not working on mac
I?m not sure if this is related, but there was a regression a while back in handling resource forks in folder icons. It was supposed to be fixed in 4.10.13 but I don?t think it quite works yet and I haven?t had the time to test it further yet. -Perttu > On 30 May 2020, at 21.00, Martin Steiner / 3MF GmbH via samba <samba at lists.samba.org> wrote: > > I changed the configuration

Need to upgrade very old samba: 4.6 AD to current release
I did something very similar recently. Joined a new 4.17.6 Debian Bullseye DC to an old 4.1.9 domain running on Wheezy and transferred roles, then demoted the original old DC. I did it in a sandbox environment but everything seemed to go smoothly. I?ve yet to do it in a live environment but since it?s a VM I?m quite confident there are no hiccups. YMMV as my environment doesn't use GPOs for

Spotlight with Elasticsearch
Hi, Is anyone using Spotlight with Elasticsearch in production and what kind of tweaking have you had to do? Certain search types seem to work out of the box, but others not. Perhaps fscrawler and Elasticsearch need some customization that the wiki doesn?t mention. There also seems to be a difference in using the main search box in the Finder window or the more granular options below, even if

So I have two issues. 1) Using Samba 4.19.2 with spotlight and elasticsearch 8.10.3 doesn?t work. Errors: [2023/10/22 09:04:17, 0] ../../source3/rpc_server/mdssvc/mdssvc_es.c:755(mds_es_search_http_read_done) mds_es_search_http_read_done: json_loadb failed 2) Using Samba 4.19.2 with spotlight and elasticsearch 7.17.10 works. There is a bug where when the samba server is running and files

Locking down RPC services for a standalone server
Hi all, After CVE-2015-0240 (remote code execution in netlogon), I would feel more comfortable if my server wasn't providing any services that aren't strictly required, but I couldn't find much documentation for rpc_server, server services, and similar directives that explains which services are needed for various configurations. I'm running a standalone Samba 4.6 file server on

Hello, yes sadly update 8.9 of elasticsearch broke the samba integration. Seems like 8.10 is still broken. Stay on 8.8 until this is fixed. Ive emailed Ralph B?hme of Sernet already, but hes got no time for it atm. Im not sure about the second part of your bug report though: > There is a bug where when the samba server is running and files are being indexed while samba is running finder

Need to upgrade very old samba: 4.6 AD to current release
Thank you Rowland I will verify proposed path h in a lab environment. The most important thing for me is that I have confirmation that it is better to add new controllers and transfer roles than to restore copies and update backups Cheers! sob., 25 mar 2023 o 12:30 Rowland Penny via samba <samba at lists.samba.org> napisa?(a): > > > On 24/03/2023 19:54, xyz via samba wrote: >
