acts_as_ferret highlight
I am getting nil returned when doing the following:
r.highlight(@condition, :field => ''body'')
''r'' is an instance of the a_a_f model. ''body'' is a tokenized saved
field.
I am running latest ferret and a_a_f trunk. Am I doing something wrong?

Which method to use to get content from index with a_a_f?
Hi everybody,
After staring at the a_a_f API for quite sometime now, I decided it''s
time to ask...
Which method should I use to get content from the index without using
highlight? Consider the following controller action:
def preview
if params[:search].blank? # normal case
@text = @myfile. # which method do I use here to get the :text from
the index???
else # if we come from

Which analyzer to use
Lucene''s standard analyzer splits words separater with underscores.
Ferret doesn''t do this. For example, if I create an index with only
document ''test_case'' and search for ''case'' it doesn''t find anything.
Lucene on the other hand finds it. The same story goes for words
separated by colons.
Which analyzer should I use to emulate

Noice words...
Hi
I use acts_as_ferret on an app that is in Danish and English. In
Danish english words like "and" and "under" has meaning. Is it
possible to make ferret search for these words? As it is now a seach
for "under" returns nothing even-though I know the word is present in
the index.
Cheers

No search results using Searcher
I just started using Ferret and I successfully indexed some documents. I
can search this index using the following code:
index = Index::Index.new(:path => path)
index.search_each("something") do |doc, score|
print "##{doc} #{index[doc][''url'']} - #{score}"
print "\n"
end
However, when I try to use Search::Searcher and QueryParser

tweaking minimum word length?
Hi,
Can Ferret be configured to change the minimum word length of what it
indexes? Right now it seems to drop words 3 characters or less, but
I''d like to include words going down to 2 characters. How would I do
that?

Stop words, fields, StandardAnalyzer quagmire
Hello,
I''m using: Ruby 1.8.6, Rails 1.2.3, ferret 0.11.4, acts_as_ferret from
svn stable.
I''ve had quite a day wrestling with trying to remove the use of
stopwords. The problem was that when searching for words like "no" or
"the", no results were found. I found a confusing thing behavior that
has taken me some time to figure out, and I hope sharing it

How to add Asia token analyzer to ferret simply?
Hi,David
Can you give me an example of how to add analyzer to ferret to Asian
languages?
My web application will have to support multi language search, which
means, for example, both Chinese and English will be searched through the
form.
Currently,I have decided to use the simple token principles, which means
that every Chinese character will be a token, although this is not so
well in some

Ferret and non latin characters support
I''ve successfully installed ferret and acts_as_ferret and have no
problem with utf-8 for accented characters. It returns correct results
fot e.g. fran?ais. My problem is with non latin characters (Persian
indeed). I have tested different locales with no success both on Debian
and Mac. Any idea?

Ignore apostrophes in words
Hi, I just started using ferret and the aaf plugin and it seems to work
quite nicely. However, my fields are very short (titles of music) and I
don''t think may users will be typing in apostrophes when they are
looking for something. Right now, for a simple document such as "what
i''ve done" I''d like it to be indexed as "what ive done" instead. Right

not understanding search results
I''m getting some results that I don''t understand from a search.
The code, based on the tutorial, and the results are below.
Everything makes sense to me, except the results for
the ''title:"Some"'' query. I would think that it should
match the first two documents, but not the third.
What am I missing here?
Thanks for any help!

acts_as_ferret : cannot use a customized Analyzer (as indicated in the AdvancedUsageNotes)
Hi all,
I cannot make aaf (rev. 220) use my custom analyzer, despite following the
indications @
http://projects.jkraemer.net/acts_as_ferret/wiki/AdvancedUsage
To pinpoint the problem, I created a model + a simple analyzer with 2 stop
words : "fax" and "gsm".
test 1 : model.rebuild_index + model.find_by_contents("fax") # fax is a
stop word.

See http://pastie.caboo.se/private/4rlwrecyyow3yl6qtf4tq
Could someone please help me understand why that is the case.
p.s. I also found ''i'' produce the same behavour as ''a''
