help again with dns and samba 4 ad
Correct we have the dnsmasq server dns+dhcp on other ip server.
So if I understand well, we will use the samba DC as a "authoritative
nameserver" and the dnsmasq as a forwarder dns for resolve outside our zone
?
And we set on the dnsmasq (when deliver ip to the client as a dhcp server)
the primary dns is a samba DC server, and too we can set the dnsmasq a
secondary dns server or is not

Or set dnsmasq as the primary DNS server, but include a line in your
dnsmasq config:
server=/your.dc.domain/your.dc.ip
That way dnsmasq hands off the dc domain lookups to samba but does all
the rest itself?

That mean for example if my domain resolve
xxxxx.testing.mydomain.com
the dnsmasq should NOT resolv xxxxxx.mydomain.com this is in ascending way
?
Another way to expose:
We set dnsmasq+dhcp to set clients that the only DNS server is samba DC on
the domain name mysubdomain.mydomain.com
DC for example resolv server1.mysubdomain.mydomain.com right, now if a

Hi everyone,
maybe this is an old fart, but I cant get it to work.
I am running libvirt on a laptop, where a dnsmasq is already running
to delegate dns info for my local (not-public) network. My resolv.conf
(on the host) lists the system-dnsmasq as first server.
I had to set the listen-adress for the system-dnsmasq to 127.0.0.1 and

DNS forwarding for guest domains on isolated network
Hi @all,
I'm having trouble to realize my use case and hope somebody could help me.
# Use case
For a home lab I want to deploy several guest domains. These domains
must not have a direct or NAT connection to the internet or my LAN. They
should only be able to reach my LAN and the internet through a proxy.
# What I've done
I've created the following virtual switch in isolated

NetworkManager frustration...
I would like to use dnsmasq to cache nameserver query results, and I
have set dhcp to prepend the 127.0.0.1 name-server to the list of
nameservers. dnsmasq would then automatically exclude the localhost as a
name server and use all the others from the list provided by dhcp.
But it was too nice to be true, because NetworkManager was there, ready
to mess up anything I try to do, including the

OK, this is what I would change on your setup, but I would also make
backups before changing anything.

Don't do that. To be honest, I wouldn't use dnsmasq at all, but if I had
to, I wouldn't do that ;-)

My VMs don't get IP with libvirt and dnsmasq
Hello there,
I wanted to share a problem I'm having with libvirt, for the case someone
here could know how to solve it.
I'm using an Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, I have libvirtd already installed and I
think I got all the dependencies installed. So, I'm using virsh net-create
to create this network:
<network>
<name>pepito</name>

Samba AD with multiple DC and multiple NICs
I add some additional information I didn't give in my previous email,
specifically how I tried to force DC1 and DC2 to contact each other only
with their VPN IPs.
I did so using dnsmasq as a DNS proxy.

IP NIC2: 172.20.0.1
IP VPN: 172.19.1.173
