Windows XP issues
Thanks Andrew for the answer. But even if I enable Windows XP to use NTLMv2 (using Regedit on (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CURRENTCONTROLSET/CONTROL/LSA LMCOMPATIBILITYLEVEL to 5) and adding "ntlm auth = ntlmv1-permitted" to my smb.conf Still the same error. (No *more connections can* be *made* to this remote computer at this time) in versions higher than 4.10. Any ideas? Best Regards

Running Samba-tool on remote host
Hi Samba team. I was thinking of running samba-tool for creating users and changing passwords on a remote host. Looking for info on google I find the directive "samba-tool --ipaddress "" " where you can send info to a remote host. But I installed samba 4.12.9 on CentOS 8, and when I run samba-tool --ipaddress the cli says option not found. Any ideas? Greetings from

Samba4 server is not accessible for logon from Windows 2008R2 SP1.
I discovered the situation. When attempting to logon from Windows 2008R2 to Samba4 is made we can see in Samba smbd log the following important for understanding the situation lines: [2017/11/20 13:25:52.040094, 2, pid=7100, effective(0, 0), real(0, 0)] ../libcli/auth/ntlm_check.c:430(ntlm_password_check) ntlm_password_check: NTLMv1 passwords NOT PERMITTED for user <username> [2017/11/20

Samba Sysvol and GPO Issues
Hi Samba Team! It's me again I'm having some issues with gpo's and sysvol access. I've installed samba 4.12.7. using idmap_ldb:use rfc2307 When I tried to create a gpo using the rsat tools I got a Permission Denied error. Among other things, I have run: samba-tool ntacl sysvolreset Also I added to smb.conf acl_xattr:ignore system acls = yes in sysvol and netlogon sections. I

Multiple E1s on one box
Hello all, Has anyone tried 8xE1 in one box using Asterisk and Digium boards ? What is the CPU needed for sustained performance in this capacity ? Is this affected if G.729 codec is used ? Regards, Jorge A.

Samba Sysvol and GPO Issues
Selinux is disabled. I don't know. The GUID and UID in sysvol directories are numbers like 3000004:30000010. Is it normal? Thanks! Hello experts/users, We have a samba server in ubuntu 18.04 LTS with version. apt-cache policy samba samba: Installed: 2:4.7.6+dfsg~ubuntu-0ubuntu2.16 Candidate: 2:4.7.6+dfsg~ubuntu-0ubuntu2.16 All is fine and great. Except one (internet disabled) windows 7 professional PC (sorry we still need to run it for a scientific tool) cannot connect unless I put "ntlm auth = yes" in

NTLM, NTLMv2, lmcompatibilitylevel >=2 doesnt work
Hi, I'm wondering if samba supports NTLMv2, particullary NTLMv2 session security. But I can't even get NTLM-only to work :(. I'm trying to increase lmcompatibilitylevel, but I can't connect to the samba server anymore when I set it to 2 or higher ("Send NTLM authenication only"). I'm using HEAD CVS of today, and my smb.conf looks like this: [global]

Stumbling blocks moving to NTLMv2
Hi folks, I have been asked to force NTLMv2 logins to avoid use of LM hashes. To meet the requirement I added some lines to the smb.conf in [Global] (we only have that section anyway - this is purely for domain authentication with an ldap backend): client lanman auth = no client NTLMv2 auth = yes lanman auth = no min protocol = LANMAN2 ntlm auth = no This seemed to work - users

Do Unix extensions still work with SMB3?
Hi all, Quick question - does Samba server still support Unix extensions when connecting over SMB3? My Linux client recently got upgraded to a CIFS module version that uses SMB3 by default, and since then I lost the ability to create symlinks on my CIFS shares. Running "mount" shows the share mounted with the "nounix" option. If I follow the advice in dmesg and add the

Samba4 shares slow
Hi there I set up a POC domain with multiple DCs, multiple remote sites and samba shares. This POC is a simulation of a whole samba3 domain migration. Users, and groups have been imported from the older domain to the new one. Here's the setup: ("Remote sites" are actually different subnets on the same location for the POC) *Main Site*: DC1 (RHEL7 - samba 4.6.4) DC2 (RHEL7 -

browsing problem with minimum protocol SMB2
I have a classic NT4 domain with the PDC also the wins server. With the recent ransomware problem, we're trying to remove SMB1 and below protocols. However when I do this, the browse list is gone. Hosts can access properly the shares, but they have to know exactly \\machine\share in order to to connect. The same thing from a linux client: smbclient -L {PDC} -m SMB2 Domain=[{MYDOMAIN}]

Samba 3 and NTLMv2 support
Hi: I have Samba 3.0.2a running on Fedora Core 1. This server is set to be Domain PDC and I am looking to have clients attach to it NTLMv2 only. After looking over the man page for smb.conf, I have set the two options that I thought would accomplish: [Global] lanman auth = no ntlm auth = no On the workstation side, I have set HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\lmcompatibilitylevel

Hi Team, Workaround for CVE-2017-12151 :- client max protocol = NT1 and CVE-2017-12163 :- server min protocol = SMB2_02 are contradicting to each other. CVE-2017-12151 impacts on SMB3 protocol but workaound suggst to use NT1. I have below queries regarding this. Is SMB2 protocol also impacted by CVE-2017-12151 ? Can i use client max protocol = SMB2 so that it does not contradict with

Samba 4.9.3 and the "10 hour problem"
Hmm… I see that there is a patch in the bugzilla page for that bug. I guess I could try that one… :-) I notice in the patch that there is a lot of talk about SMB2 - we use SMB3 mostly now. But perhaps there is some code sharing? Or perhaps SMB2 is used when talking to the AD servers? Or the few SMB2-talking clients causes the problem for all of the other users? When testing the “timeout” issue I
