Very slow ext3 fsck
Hi -
We have an ext3 file system which is 3.5TB in size (on top of lvm). Free are

consists of multiple backups created with rsync using --link-dest, which
hard links files which haven't been modified to the previous copy. There

Asterisk desktop tools for OS X
Hi everyone,
I have been long working on a project (http://asterisktools.org, to be
released under GPL) that aims to provide desktop tools for Macs. I am
finally getting to the release stages of this application and hope to
have an early BETA available next weekend.
If there is anybody who is interested in this tool, please send me an
email as I am looking for people who can test the

PHP 4.3.10 on CentOS 4 or CentOS 5
Hi Everyone,
I am in a fix with an installation for a client where I need PHP
version 4.3.10 or above (4.3.x, but not PHP 5). The application we are
trying to run will not run on PHP 5.
CentOS 4.5 provides PHP 4.3.9, is there a quick an easy way to have
PHP 4.3.10 available on either CentOS 4.5 or CentOS 5
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.

PgSQL development libraries?
Hi,
I am trying to compile an application (PowerDNS) with PostgreSQL
support. Where do the PowerDNS libraries get installed under CentOS?
I am constantly getting the error
checking for PgSQL library directory... configure: error: Didn't find
the pgsql library dir in '/usr/include/lib/pgsql /usr/include/pgsql

CallerID shows wrong values in manager interface
Hi everyone,
My manager interface seems to be producing wrong CallerIDs when
internal extensions call each other. Can anyone see anything wrong in
the configuration snippets pasted below? The following instance has
extension 101 call 103. The phone does show the right caller ID, but
notice that the manager interface has the CallerID as the target
number (103).
Thanks a lot for your time.

extension.conf doesn't reload?
Hi everyone,
I have just installed Asterisk 1.4.6 on CentOS 5. When I issues the
reload command in the asterisk command prompt, it doesn't seem to read
my configuration files. Any suggestions?
pbx*CLI> reload
The 'reload' command is deprecated and will be removed in a future
release. Please use 'module reload' instead.

Can't find asterisk.ctl under CentOS installation
Hi Everyone,
I recently upgraded to Asterisk 1.4 using the RPMS at ATrpms.net on
CentOS 4.4, Asterisk starts up but when I start the console it reports
this error and drops out.
"Unable to connect to remote asterisk (does
/var/run/asterisk/asterisk.ctl exist)?"
I have checked to see that the file asterisk.ctl actually exists. Any
suggestions?

Errors with a blackberry
Hi -
We tried to access a dovecot-0.99.10.7 IMAPS server with a Blackberry
7230. The Blackberry was on loan so we don't have much access to it for
testing.
We got the following in our logs:

I know this is probably the wrong forum to ask this question, but is
there someone who has a working BIND configuration file that they are
willing to share.
Thanks.

NFS problems with CentOS 4.5
Our large and complex build system is having very sporadic failurs
as we try to update to CentOS 4.5. This takes the form of files that
exist - and have existed for some time - not being found:
file.whatever: No such file: No such file or directory
This happens both with source files, .o's - meaning that the
errors come from both the compiler and linker.
The build storage is on NFS and the

Hi everyone,
Yum on one my CentOS systems has decided to stop functioning after an

Python-SQLite packages?
Any ideas anyone? Here is what happens.

Asterisk Manager Interface, reliably monitor NewCall for an extension
Hi Everyone,
I am writing an open source application that brings desktops widgets
to OS X (http://sourceforge.net/projects/astrxtools4osx/), for which I
am trying to get my head around the Asterisk Manager Interface.
I had been using the Event: NewCallerid to detect a new call which my
Asterisk server doesn't seem to send to the socket anymore, because of
which I have reverted to using

Ubuntu 8.04 DomU image from jailtime.org on CentOS 5.2 Dom0
Hello all,
I am trying to get an Ubuntu 8.04 image running on my CentOS 5.2 Dom0
which so far has only been running CentOS 5.2 DomUs.
The image I am trying to run was fetched from jailtime.org (just so I
didn't have to go through building an image for myself).
The configuration of the DomU is based on what the guys at
jailtime.org provided and its as follows

32-bit vs 64-bit CentOS on 64-bit hardware
I was asked this question today and frankly, I didn't know the answer.
So I thought I'd post it here....
If you don't need to access greater than 4GB RAM, is there any benefit
to running the 64-bit version of CentOS vs the 32-bit one? That's
assuming, of course, that the target machine utilizes a 64-bit capable
processor. I hadn't seen any noticeable difference, but I

Cross-platform GUI libraries with drag 'n drop IDEs
OS: CentOS 5.0 x86.
I am a programmer, relatively new to GNU/Linux and am looking for cross
platform GUI development, mainly for EL5 and Windows. I have found
wxWidgets so far. I prefer drag 'n drop programming IDEs, QT seems to
provide this for GNU/Linux, but it isn't free for Windows.
Does anyone know of any decent GUI cross-platform library for EL5 and
Windows with a drag 'n
