Hello,
Issue Description
After the upgrade of the Unraid server OS (unraid.net) from v6.9.2 to v6.12.6 (which upgrades the version of Samba from 4.12.14 to 4.17.12) access to shares stops working.

security=ads
Dear samba-mailinglist,
We're using samba 4.0.5 as an active directory domain controller.
We used to set up some file shares on basis security=user in the old
samba version. I was able to set up the shares as they used to be .
My Question:
How can I set up "wich user kan read/write which share?"
Do I have to do this in den Active Directory or in smb.conf?
This maybe a trivial

Unable to execute Java MapReduce (Hadoop) code from R using rJava
Hi All,
I have written a Java MapReduce code that runs on Hadoop. My intention is
to create an R package which will call the Java code and execute the job.
Hence, I have written a similar R function. But when I call this function
from R terminal, the Hadoop job is not running. Its just printing few lines
of warning messages and does nothing further. Here is the execution
scenario:

Windows 2003 Active Directory and Group Access
Hi together,
we have a Windows 2003 Active Directory Server, working together with Samba Version 3.0.2a-Debian. It seems
everything (Kerberos authentication and so on) works fine. All the authentication is done by the windows 2003
server. My problem is, that I can't connect to a share via a windows xp client, when the share has an option
"valid user" which defines a group of the

[PATCH] inotify_add_watch: pass IN_ALL_EVENTS as mask for test
Instead of pass 0x3fffffff as mask value, pass a simplier 0xfff, which
is the value of the IN_ALL_EVENTS define. This will still catch all
the inotify events, and avoid a EINVAL error with Linux 4.4.

Transparent Migration from cyrus to dovecot
Hi dovecot people,
We are in the process of preparing the migration from a cyrus 2.1
installation to dovecot. Dovecot will be installed on new hardware, so
we have separated servers that can/will exist in parallel for a while.
Our goal is to do the migration without interrupting the service for our
users too much. Currently we tend to using dsync. So I am asking for
best practice suggestions,

Someone needs to send network traces and debug level 10 logs
for this. And try to reproduce the same against a Windows
server.

Smbclient command line password parsing
Hi there,
I've got a question about the way that smbclient parses the password
from the command line in the -U argument (i.e. -U'username%password').
This came up recently when I was trying to figure out why the cupsaddsmb
command was failing for me.
It appears that smbclient can't take passwords out of the command line
with leading 'special' characters such as = or

pam authentication
Hello all
I use debian 9 with dovecot 2.x: real system users and virtual users:
almost all works perfectly ;)
Virtual users can connect via imap and pop using name + domain name:
user00 at domain1.org, etc.
pam (real system users) users can connect via imap and pop ONLY without
domain name
It's a problem with pam authentication because linux make users
authentication with only username

samba PDC with NIS, or other solution?
We have a network with Windows NT/2000, SGI's, Linux, Macintosh, AIX. Our
user account/passwords for all our machines is handled by NIS on an AIX
machine.
Our unix machines autheticate through NIS. Our windows machines
authenticate by loging on to an NT server acting as the PDC, and that PDC
has a service installed on it called "WinDD NIS" (made by Tektronix I
think) which contacts

locking and gfs
Hi there,I run samba as a PDC and tried to make this PDC high available with
redhat cluster suite and gfs. I experienced the following problem while
doing this:
If I set the option locking = no in smb.conf it takes about 4 minutes to
copy a file of 1GB size. If I set locking = yes it takes about 1 hour. Im
not sure if locking = no sets locking off for all locking options. At least
I need locking
