several dns issues after switching fsmo roles to samba-dc
Hello, I've finally decided to switch all FSMO roles from Windows 2008 R2 DC (vm-dc1) to one of the two Samba 4.12.3 DCs (vm-dc3). Here are several issues I've faced after that: 1. After connecting DNS Manager to the all DCs, I've found that the SOA record for my domain and msdcs zones still point to the former PDC - vm-dc1. Is that OK? 2. So, I've changed the SOA manually

SOA record in Samba Internal DNS
Hi. I'm running Sernet Samba 4.7 on Ubuntu 16. I noticed that when my first DC went away, I had problems. The SOA record for the domain still points at that first DC. I found, in this entry from 2014 ( https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2014-August/184301.html) that "Windows AD servers actually 'lie' about the SOA record, and always say that it points to themselves. So in a

Why is smbd looking for Kerberos principal cifs/host@DOMB when it is a member of DOMA?
Your config looks ok, as far i can tell. This : "cifs/kvm7246-vm022.maas.local at TC84.LOCAL" As it should spn/hostname.fqdn at REALM nothing wrong with that. But if i understand it right. Your server : kvm7246-vm022.maas.local is in REALM : TC83.LOCAL ( NTDOM:TC83 ) But you get TC84 back?. On the problem server run the following: dig a kvm7246-vm022.maas.local @IP_of_AD-DC

Authentication to Secondary Domain Controller initially fails when PDC is offline
Hai, Ah, ok, wel, yeah, i was missing the NS on the SOA. This is imo a bug, i dont know it this is by design for samba, so maybe a samba dev can answere this since every joined DC should have a NS record on the SOA as far as i know, but thats my opinion and i can be wrong here. Samba DNS Listening IP
Is it possible to change the DNS listening IP? I'd like to run a dnscache service for primary LAN queries, but the only way to do this with Samba seems to be iptables preroute configuration to redirect port 53 requests. Thanks, -- Greg J. LDAP Server's dns A records...
[It is more an AD question then a Samba question, but...] I need to do some LDAP query in an AD domain, plain LDAP query, mostly to query non-auth data (eg, emails). There's a DNS name that map to 'round robin the AD DC of the current site'? I need an 'A' record, not an SRV record, eg i need to put in my apps/MFP/... an LDAP server DNS name that round robin between the
