ver 4.11 to 4.12 changes re: raid, soft/hard links
Hi All, I tried different options with new samba 4.12.1 and 4.12.2 regarding sharing to win clients I have many shares, but problems occur more frequently (share gets unreadable, until smb restart) Using Fedora 32 So I see different behavior when: 1.) share is on software raid mdraid 2.) share destination is on the soft link? (ln -s /data/1-Folder ) 3.) I used "mount --bind"

Share inaccessible intermittently and often - restarting smb cures for short time
I just installed version 4.11.7 and the problem has gone away so either it's a bug or a new "feature" that we have to set some config setting to fix. I am still having the annoying issue with deleting thumbs.db files which I currently have on the other install as well. I'm not sure why there is a locking issue with these files but every time I try to delete a folder I get an

Share inaccessible intermittently and often - restarting smb cures for short time
Additional Information: This is happening on both a Windows 7 client and a Windows 10 client both of which are joined to the domain. Seems to be some sort of file locking issue but it is happening at the share level - before I even attempt to access or write a file. On a different server running Samba 4.9.2 and a relatively similar setup (same build commands but running on CentOS 7) I do not

Interesting that you're using the sernet packages.. Mine was built from source. I guess we're the only two people on the planet having this issue :). I am going to attempt to downgrade just my file server to a few versions back and see if it starts working. Don?t think we?re the only one with this problem, We use it how I said for 3 Companies and we have this issue at all our customers after upgrade to 4.12, before we never had this problem. Downgrade will solve this problem but stay always on an old version brings in future new problems. We have a sernet subscription but no support package, that?s the reason why I write here. The question is here

The thing about us being the only ones was kind of tongue and cheek hence the smiley :) .. and was only because of no response. I will be happy to help where I can providing logs and testing etc.. but I'm no programmer and as such I'm not the person to try and troubleshoot. I would consider myself a user of the product. As far as running on a previous version I'm not too

NT_STATUS_SHARING_VIOLATION when trying to delete files
I searched the archives already and couldn't find an answer to this. I'm running an automated process via a cron job on a SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 box. The cron runs a Perl script, which uses the SmbClientParser module. The Perl script grabs files from clients running Windows 2000. The files on the client computers are created by in-house MFC applications on those computers.

It creates, modify and deletes a lot of files. All access are done through only one linux server (the second is a

Very strange issue copying only certain files to a share
I've been troubleshooting this issue for over a week and am running out of ideas. Generally everything works fine. I can copy files into the share, create and delete files and folders. However when copying *some* files from windows specifically it will say "The destination already has a file named "a"". A size 0 file by that name is then created. No files exist in the

Hai, Without (smb.conf) config, no, sorry, no ideas.. And educated guess, you have errors in you DNS resolving. Whats the OS running? Cat /etc/hosts Cat /etc/resolv.conf Cat /etc/smb.conf On the windows pc. open dosbos, ipconfig /all Things like that, suprisly, really help us out in helping you. ;-) Greetz, Louis > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- > Van: samba

Shares not accessible when using FQDN
Hi, Time is OK I found some more informations: it seems the problem appears when I use an alias (DNS and netbios alias). So it is working for principal names (moe, in this case). Maybe it si not related but the setup is still in 2003 mode? CLUSTER is and alias of MOE (in the config and also in DNS servers => CNAME (resolution is OK)). And accessing to the shares using \\cluster is not

Samba4 Permission Problem
Hello everyone, I am having the following problem with my samba: I did the installation and compilation from source and samba is working correctly integrated with my AD. Shares not accessible when using FQDN
Hi guys, Thank you for your answer. Meanwhile I have new informations, the problem also happen on a workstation in the domain. This should not be a DNS issue. I validated that and I can authenticate and list shares. Just cannot enter into them when i'm using the FQDN o_O Note : It works well on Linux clients. Here is the Samba config file : Thank you ! # Global parameters
