Random numbers in pxe config
Is there a way to produce random number for pxemenu? For example i need to balance load between 10 web-servers, so I need something like: APPEND netboot=http://boot-serv-$RANDOM10/system.img Another example is when 1000 boxes starts up at the same time (after e.g. Datacenter power failure) it'll be useful to have random values in timeout: TIMEOUT $RANDOM120 --

Illegal OpCode on PXE exit with syslinux-6.0{1,2}
Hi, while testing syslinux-6.01_pre6 and syslinux-6.02_pre5 I noticed an illegal OpCode error on PXE exit. To reproduce: 1) Install syslinux-6.0x PXE environment 2) Use a config like I use (seems like this is getting triggered when the local boot menu entry will be executed) -> http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=6tjqUAwX 3) Just let a client boot from network. It will hit timeout and the default

Illegal OpCode on PXE exit with syslinux-6.0{1,2}
Hi, > Have you ever successfully used this config file with 4.06 or earlier? Mh, no. And I'll get the illegal opcode on 4.06 exit for local boot as well. Not sure if it has something to do with the fact, that there is no local bootloader, syslinux can start (it is a new system where's currently no OS installed). The config itself was grabbed from various PXE boot tutorials, for

HP DL585 - CentOS4.5 - kix woes
Hi Well we are now using HP instead of Dell and have hit a major hurdle. We dont seem to be able to kix any of these boxes. I have been most recently trying on a dl585 and the issue appears to be that the kix kernel does not detect any nic. Its strange as the box can be installed using iso's and the nic appears as eth0: Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5706 1000Base-T (A2) PCI-X 64-bit 100MHz

HP DL585 G2 -- no nics
Hi folks, I've just spent about six hours messing around with an HP DL585 G2 server trying to get CentOS to go. This box is a dual-CPU with dual cores and 10GB of RAM total. According to the datasheet, the POST screens, and the BIOS, it has the Broadcom embedded NICs in it. The problem boils down to the installed OS (4.4 x86_64) not seeing the NICs. If you do an lspci on the system

CentOS 4.5 - ProLiant DL585 G2 - Mouse Issue
Hi OK another issue trying to get X going on these boxes. It seems to be a HP issue but if anyone knows a solution that would be great. I am using the iLo interface and the hpmouse-1.1.0-73.noarch.rpm driver. As root i can startx and all is well, however when starting X as the oracle user it fails with the following error Exec fail for command "/opt/hp/hpmouse/hpmouse-helper"

[LLVMdev] Inliner that does not destroy splitted cold edges
Here I will introduce my idea of a inliner that can handle splitting cold edge as well: My idea is to use the inlined function, but inline from the uninlined function. 1. Do normal optimizations without inlining 2. Split the cold edges into other functions 3. Copy each function @xyz to @xyz.i (or other name that does not clash) and mark @xyz with 'inlines @xyz.i' ==> this needs an

How to clone a guest for cold stand by
Hi, what would be the shortest and fastest way to clone a e.g. basic Centos 5 guest for further use? For example I'd like to set up a master Mysql-server as a guest an than "clone" two additional slaves. Which xen configfiles may be edited? Can the config and the filesystem simply be copied? Thanks for suggestions! Regards G?tz -- G?tz Reinicke IT Koordinator Tel. +49 7141

try changing the interface names, (lo and eth0) to there ipadresses. if that didnt fix it, then you need to adjust the startup order. Thanks for the infos. I'm running 4.2.14. I always use apt-get to install/upgrade packages, so the init script comes standard from the official repository: =============== root at debian:~# cat /etc/init.d/samba #!/bin/sh ### BEGIN INIT INFO # Provides: samba # Required-Start: # Required-Stop: # Default-Start: # Default-Stop: # Short-Description: ensure Samba daemons are started

Why files goes to hot tier and cold tier at same time
Hi, The actual data will be in the hot tier only till demotion. The file that you see on the cold tier is just a linkto file of the file on the hot tier. These linkto file are necessary for the internal working of the tier. Hai, Really, you dont need to edit the systemd files. Try first with only the interface change. Then if you still need to edit the systemd files. You need these settings, but i dont thing you need it after the interface change. cat /lib/systemd/system/smbd.service [Unit] Description=Samba SMB Daemon Documentation=man:smbd(8) man:samba(7) man:smb.conf(5) After=network.target nmbd.service
