Testing samba4 connection on Windows
Hi, I installed samba4 (zentyal 3.4) and I followed the Samba4 AD DC Howto from the wiki to test the linux-side. There all seems OK. Unfortunately, when I try to register a Win7 PC, the domain is not found. So what can I do to test things on the Windows-side ? I did : C:\net view /domain:ace_domain returns : \\ZENTYAL1 which is my DC After manually "mounting" the test1-share : C:\net

inconsistent DNS information, windows domain member issues..
I joined a Windows 10 Pro system to my (still experimental) domain. The windows system actually hosts DC2 as a VM, and another Windows (Server 2008 R2) at another location hosts DC1 also as a VM. The two locations are connected via a VPN, both systems run only when needed. The windows system does not directly use DC2 for DNS but instead talks to a DNS resolver that delegates the samba Domain to

Samba + BIND9 DLZ. DNS dosen't resolve FQDN, only short hostname
Hm, I thought this to be the very TLD that is specifically assigned for local networks with no plans to become Internet-wide. What is the recommended TLD for such networks then? Hai, In addition to Rowlands last mail. I see wrong rights in /var/lib/samba/private You want : drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 May 6 13:06 private Missing bind (named.conf.option) In options { empty-zones-enable no; auth-nxdomain yes; # This server IS authorive for the AD-DC zones. // to use new samba backup onnline tool, you also need auth-nxdomain yes; //

Hi Lucas ? Thanks, but the time is in sync on all clients and is updated on login by a login script. There's is no discrepancy in this regard between those clients that work and those that don't. :) ? I have read that so many times. I started out with the simple, prompted 'samba-tool domain join' and built up from there. Version is: Samba 4.7.6 from Ubuntu (18.04.2) Interesting what happens when I take out --site directive (see below). root at DC2:~# samba-tool domain join DOMAIN1.DOMAIN DC --username='DOMAIN1\EnterpriseAdminUser' --realm='DOMAIN1.DOMAIN'

default Bind on CentOS 4.4 and reverse DNS subnets issue?
Anybody knows if the Bind version on CentOS 4.4 (9.2.4) has issues with doing reverse DNS for subnets? (networks smaller than /24) I keep a reverse DNS /26 subnet on Bind 9.3.1 (Fedora) and it works fine. I've a /27 subnet on CentOS 4 (bind 9.2.4), exactly the same config just different subnets and addresses, and it does not work. I do a "dig @localhost .......in-addr.arpa. PTR"
