Performance regression of Windows clients?
Hello Samba experts, I'd like to revive an old thread from 2017, where a performance regression of the Windows client implementation of SMB was discussed (https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2017-August/210366.html). We run a ctdb-managed cluster of Samba gateways to our distributed file system, and we have performed similar tests with the latest production Samba 4.12 release, using

[PATCH 1/2] JBD2: Allow feature checks before journal recovery
Before we start accessing a huge (> 16 TiB) OCFS2 volume, we need to confirm that its journal supports 64-bit offsets. So we need to check the journal's feature bits before recovering the journal. This is not possible with JBD2 at present, because the journal superblock (where the feature bits reside) is not loaded from disk until the journal is recovered. This patch loads the journal

SYSLINUX 2.10-pre2 is out
I have released SYSLINUX 2.10-pre2. I *really* would like testing reports for this one, especially ISOLINUX, since I've included Knut Petersen's fix for Award BIOSes... Changes in 2.10: * MEMDISK: Handle images compressed with zip as well as with gzip. Some Windows-based image tools apparently generate these kinds of images by default. Patch by Patrick

Win7 clients problem after upgrading samba file server to 4.12 on Arch
OK, have repeated the test: - samba logs: http://www.mediafire.com/file/jy4qcyvqg6z39zu/logs.tar.gz/file - tcpdump log: http://www.mediafire.com/file/qzex3kxf2vzd87n/tcpdump_all.tar.gz/file The tcpdump log covers the whole period of testing time, from starting to stopping smb and nmb services. Previous logs deleted from mediafire. Now waiting for any advice from you, or let's

[GIT PULL] ocfs2 changes for 2.6.37
Linus, et al, Here are the ocfs2 changes for 2.6.37. There are three major additions. Tao Ma has added readahead to our CoW operations. Sunil Mushran has added a global heartbeat mode, allowing one device heartbeat to support multiple ocfs2 mounts. Finally, Patrick J. LoPresti has done the final work to enable ocfs2 mounts on devices larger than 16TB. The ocfs2 disk format has always

Disabling locking for DLL files
Hi all, I'm trying to run a program off a network drive, however it insists on locking the DLL files it loads, so that no other process can access them (even read-only.) This means that only one person can run the program at a time, as opposed to the entire office running it at the same time. It looks like the option "share modes = no" will solve this, but before enabling it for

Win7 clients problem after upgrading samba file server to 4.12 on Arch
Did you note the very second you saw the offending error message? That time would help a lot, I can't see the error packet. But all that said, I'm not the person who needs to look at this, I just hoped I could help get you the information they would need. The only other suggestion, other than the build on master in the hope this has already been fixed, is if you do find you can build
