Should I forget sssd ?
Hi again,
Thanks again, Denis, Steve and Rowland for your previous answers about
RFC2307 and winbind.
Maybe I'm an dreamer but here is that I wanted to achieve :
Ubuntu server 12.04.3, samba4 as PDC, several NICS : 1 LAN and 2/3 WANS
Use a windows VM (on this server) to control AD through WRAT
AD offers me the 'wishdom' of software deployment and GPO, users are

Sharing directory via Samba using AD credentials
Hi List,
I?m attempting to configure an Active Directory joined CentOS 7 host to share directories with Windows clients using Samba. The machine has been joined to the domain via: ?adcli join --stdin-password --domain-ou=?OU=Servers,DC=domain,DC=com' --login-user={{ private_ad_username }} -S dc1 DOMAIN.COM". Logging in to the host via ssh with AD user credentials works fine. I have SSSD

Samba4 changing a user's password from linux workstation
Hello Rowland,
We’ve been using SSSD with Acitve Directory for a few years now… It’s been solid for us.
Our Linux clients use the AD-Kerberos via SSSD for secure NFS4 mounts with POSIX attributes defined in AD (uidNumber, gidNumber, unixHomeDirectory, loginShell).
Before putting into production, I tested using Winbind and could not get it to do what I wanted. If I remember correctly, I had

Samba winbind on redhat 7
Hello,
I am reading RHEL 7 docs concerning samba integration, and I found
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/7/html-single/windows_integration_guide/index#winbind
"4.2.4. Switching Between SSSD and Winbind for SMB Share Access
This procedure describes how you can switch between SSSD and Winbind

Samba winbind on redhat 7
My idea is to replace default "cifs_idmap_sss.so" plugin by "idmapwb.so"
winbind plugin, in order to SSSD becomes a client of winbind.
To avoid to change nsswitch.conf :
passwd:???? files sss
shadow:???? files sss
group:????? files sss
into
passwd:???? files winbind
shadow:???? files winbind
group:????? files winbind
because I need an other access in sftp, this is using

sssd not a good idea
That's clearly a documentation bug. As for the samba integration, it's now
in its own guide:
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/7/html/windows_integration_guide/index
(this is what I followed on 7.5/7.6 to consume realmd).
Let me open a BZ about this...
Regards,
Vincent
