getent not working (again)
Hi all,
after I searched the internet about a week now I can't find an answer to my
problem:
The company I work for is using a Windows 2003 Domain using the Windows
Services for UNIX (SFU) and NIS. We are using two Domain Controllers that
are hosting the ADS.
Now I want to use Samba and NFS to implement a file server for our mixed
client enviroment: There will be Linux, HP UNIX, Solaris,

AW: getent not working (again)
I don't think that this is my problem. When I try 'getent passwd <user>' I
get no output either. And we only store about 200 users. Is bug 3024 fixed
in the newest version? I will try to apply the patch.

Problems with Samba and Windows 2003 Active Domain Server
Can somebody with experience making a RedHat Fedora Core 3 server with Samba installed work in a Windows 2003 Active Domain please
give me some pointers? I have a small installation with one Windows 2003 Server running as a domain controller for about 10 Windows
XP machines. This is working just fine. I decided that I wanted to add a RedHat Fedora Core 3 server as a Mail server, running Cyrus

SID-UID mapping issue on Samba 3.0.4 in an AD Domain
I have problems with SID to UID mapping using winbind on a FreeBSD 5.2/Samba
3.0.4
as a member server of a Win2k domain controller. I use heimdal-0.6.1 for
kerberos.
I would like my XP machines in the domain to use the share with the user
accounts
defined in Active Directory.
At a first glance it seems to work: the connection to the share succeeds
without a

getent and wbinfo not returning expected results?
Hello,
For some time now have been trying to connect a Samba-3.0.14a-0.4
server running on SuSE Ent 9 linux server to our Exchange 2003
(running on Server 2003 Std w/ SP1) server which is also the AD
server for our domain.
I can connect to the shares using the AD as the authentication
source, so the basic functionality is there but some command output

Cannot chown file to active directory user/group on member server
Hi,
I need to change ownership of server files to user/group defined in active

'ls -lia' shows that file ownership is unchanged. What am I doing wrong?

Strange behaviour of winbind on solaris 8
Dear All,
I came across a really strange behaviour when using winbind on solaris 8.
Normally "nscd" should be turned off because it's causing problems in the
username resolution etc. When I turn it off I can login e.g. using ssh as an
AD users but when i start a command like "ls" it gets put in the background
immediately? When "nscd" is turn on and login again I

Unable to log on (authenticating) to a Samba NT Domain
I have 4 machines at home:
1 Linux Centos 4.4 running as a PDC
1 Linux Centos domain member running as my file server. Winbind works
properly and I'm able to share files perfectly well
1 Windows XP sp2, member of my domain. No problem accessing files on
Centos domain member
1 Linux Fedora Core 5, also a domain member.
I'm unable to logon my Fedora 5 machine to my domain. I've joined

Winbind & Samba 2.2.7a on FreeBSD
Hello all,
I've got a weird problem with a fresh install of Samba
from the FreeBSD ports collection (btw. the BSD-box is
also a fresh 4.7 Stable install).
Configured Samba 2.2.7a
- without cups
- with winbind
- with winbind-auth
- with audit
so far, the installation seemed to work fine...
Then I copied the libnss_winbind.so to /usr/lib
and softlinked it to /usr/local/lib as well as

I am having issues integrating a FC3 system with AD running on W2k3. I can not
figure out why the user ID mappings and Group ID mappings are going stale. This
is a generic FC3 install with all of the latest updates.

Multithreaded SAMBA/Winbind
Hi.
We have a configuration and audit application called Tripwire Enterprise
(7.5) that is running on a Red Enterprise Linux 5.2 server. On this
server, we are using winbind (samba version 3.0.33) for authentication
(against Windows AD). When we try to run a configuration check on users
and permissions we get an error that there is a problematic frame : C

Problem cooperating with Windows and AD
Hi,
I'm having a problem getting my Windows machines to access shares in
Samba. When they browse to the Samba box it sometimes gives them an
error saying that they don't have permission or that the server is
unavailable. However this doesn't always happen and other times it lists
the shares. When I try to access the shares it just prompts for the
username/password over and over.

FreeBSD and Winbind
I'm hoping this is an easy question, but the way my day has gone I
seriously doubt it is going to be.
Today, I installed Samba 3.0.24 with winbind support on my FreeBSD 6.2
server. I am able to join my domain and get information concerning groups
and passwords from the domain controller (Windows 2003) without any
problem.
Where I have run into a problem is using getent to get a copy of the
