File sharing is ok, but new ADS user validation is not ok
We have Samba 3.2.4 on two SLES 10 (one is SP1, the other SP2 64bit) machines. Both are member servers in our ADS, which was over the past month given some additional DCs, new IPs for all DCs, and upgraded to Windows 2008 (from win2003). The krb5.conf and nsswitch.conf files on the two machines are identical; the smb.conf files are *nearly* identical in their common section; the filewall rules

Domain member seems to work, wbinfo -u not
Hello everyone,   any ideas on why a newly installed domain member (w2k8 domain) might seem to work fine in every test (wbinfo -g, wbinfo -t, getent group, wbinfo -n username, getent passwd user, share-access.., ) but only enumeration of users with wbinfo -u and getent passwd fail? wbinfo -u just returns without any output and getent passwd just shows the default centos7 users.   Even with

"getent group" shows AD groups; "getent passwd" only shows local users
I had winbind configured so that it could fetch users from AD. Everything was working properly, but something happened in the past couple of days (no change in the Samba config) I'm not able to diagnose. "getent group" enumerates groups, "getent passwd" doesn't. "wbinfo -g" returns groups, whereas I get this error when trying to get users: # wbinfo -u

Samba trusts, mapping issue, and pam crap domain
I am running Samba ver 3.0.37 on Solaris 10 (sparc) as a PDC with LDAP for the backend for both samba and unix accounts. Assume the samba SMBPDC is called "PDC." I have also set up a trust with an Windows domain- lets call it WINDOMAIN- (the PDC for the Windows domain is Win 2003 but is in mixed mode for backwards compat.) The SAMBA domain trusts the WINDOWS domain, not not vice

After Update to 4.2, Samba is unusuable as member server / No user and goup resolution
Hello everybody, I've bin running Samba as a AD member server for ages (Debian stable). After the last update to 4.2, I just can't get it to work. Symptoms: unable to map AD user / groups. After two days of successlessly fiddling (and moving all data to another server with still Samba 3.6, which I will definitely NOT update at the moment), I decided to purge my Installation and start

Fwd: Winbind Preauthentication failed
Hi guys! I started to have the problem above last October, 2th. I don´t know why and how, because it was saturday. So, my file server stoped to authenticate against the Samba4 AD. Today, all shares was stopped and then i restarted my Samba4 AD and the file server. All became to work again. But it im afraid because the problem started by itself. Thanks! # MY CRONTAB 17 * * * * root cd /

Samba 3.0.26a, windows 2k3 r2 SFU, problems with auth/nss
Dear samba list, For some time we've had servers connecting to a w2k3 r2 server via ADS setup. Wins was working fine and users were able to authenticate. Recently we've added a GFS like system. This required getting the UID/GID's unified. Suggestions were made on the samba IRC channel to install SFU on the PDC. I'm receiving some very strange output. Usernames/pwd have

CentOS 4.5: Automounted USB disks eventually stop appearing on desktop
This is just a minor annoyance, but I wondered if anyone has any insights. When I first boot the system and log in to Gnome, and then plug in e.g. a USB stick or compact flash card, I get an icon for it on the desktop. I can right-click on this icon to "eject" the filesystem, etc. Eventually, though, for no obvious reason, this stops working and I no longer get an icon when I insert a

localboot in pxelinux recurses back into pxelinux then eventually crashes
Hi all, My server is IBM x3850 X5 and use Broadcom UNDI PXE-2.1 v5.2.4 stack. When I choose localboot to boot from the harddisk, the system willnot boot up then still trying to boot from PXE. Several times later the PXE boot procedure is crashed with words as I attached. Does anyone have any good idea? Thanks very much. Asterisk eventually fails when connection dies
I have a single server running asterisk 1.6.0.8 with a few sip voip providers and a tdm card for redundancy. It has a caching name server and the sip providers are hard coded in the hosts file. When the internet connection dies, it fails over to the dahdi channel as it should, but slowly the sip phones loose registration and the incoming dahdi channel can still answer the incoming call, but it

samba4 eventually stops working
I'm running samba4 from git (latest as of sep 1) on ubuntu 10.4. It's operating as a PDC, as well as hosting a shared drive. The last couple days I've noticed that my shared drives will appear as disconnected, and indeed trying to connect to the server times out. If I look on the server, there are many (50ish) samba processes all sitting there sleeping. If I use the init script to

Apply approx() to an array and eventually a list of arrays
Hello all, I'm struggling to grasp how I might use lapply() instead of looping to run approx() on a list consisting of multiple arrays - each of equal dimension. But simpler than that, I haven't been able to successfully apply approx() to an array, unless I loop through the third dimension and extract the matrix. See example code below... Any suggestions will be gratefully received. Thanks
