Windows 10 ADUC no properties window
Hi,
Anyone know why I don't get the properties window when I try to create a
new user or view a user's properties. Was working fine last week when I
created 3 or 4 test users. I'm using the same workstation I had installed
RSAT on and created the users with before. Any idea's?

GPO redirected folders reg path issue
Hi all,
I have an issue at multiple sites that has been plaguing me for a while. My
goto setup for AD w/windows desktops is to employ roaming profiles with
redirected folders and a few mapped drives; all via GPO. And that's pretty
much it. 3 GPOs linked to the entire domain with authenticated users as
security filter. The file servers are a domain member and serve both the
file shares and

Windows 10 administrative templates /central store with Samba
Viktor, thanks again!
Now that I did this (added the Win10 1511 ADMX files to the central
store), I probably will have to recreate the policies that will be
applied to Win10 machines, right?

"Samba cannot handle GPO restrictions"
Hi list,
Today, I spent most of the day figuring out why my password policies set
via GPO are not applied on a domain level, just to find out that this is
not one of the many occasions where Windows is the problem but it's really
Samba, for a change. Apparently, password policies can only be changed
using samba-tool and not via GPO.
IMO, the FAQ is not very clear here.

I have already added a Win10 machine to a domain, where only Win7
clients were joined before that. I have managed this domain from Win7
only, so far. Therefore I believe that e.g. the Windows Update policy is
not fit for

AD DC Corrupt recycle bin in redirected folders
Hi everyone,
First off, I really don't know what to provide so please just ask what is
needed. Here's what I think is relevant starting with a brief description:
I have samba4 as AD DC for windows 10 clients. Roaming profiles are on a
share on the DC and are working perfectly. However, redirected folder, also
residing on the DC are not working as expected. I have yet to put my finger

Is there a good web interface now to manage Samba?
I pretend not to use RSAT on Windows any more. I use Linux as
workstation and I have to access a Wondows 7 Virtual Machine with RSAT
in order to manage AD.
Is there any web based project?
I usually work with these topics:
- Manage users and groups
- Manage OUs
- Manage GPOs
- Manage DNS

user login passwords are mixed up
Thank you! That was the hint I needed with 4.2 and ""Bad Password Lockout
in the AD DC".
I did it via samba-tool this time and not via GPO with RSAT.
samba-tool domain passwordsettings set --history-length=0
samba-tool domain passwordsettings show
Password informations for domain 'DC=x,DC=x,DC=x'
Password complexity: on
Store plaintext passwords: off

Newly applied GPO not immediately active
Hi folks,
I have been playing around with implementing and applying GPOs on a
Samba AD DC, using the RSAT tools. It seems that any changes take their
time (at least 5 minutes, maybe more), and are not immediately active. I
experienced problems when logging in on the affected computers (Windows
10), that the GPOs seemed to be incompletely applied. After a while, it
worked though. It's not

GPO not getting updated on Windows 10
Hi,
Our Domain controller environment is working for over 6 years without a
break. It started with Samba Version 4.6.5 and today running 4.18.5. We
have only Windows 10 clients across our organisation.
Off late, we have observed that GPOs are not getting updated when we
change some GPOs and link them to some specific OUs. For example,
previously, we had not allowed one specific network path

Domain password policy with Samba AD DC
Hi folks,
I just wonder why it is not possible to set domain password policies
with GPO, using the Windows RSAT Group Policy Manager? For most other
settings, using GPOs through RSAT works.
For somebody who sets up a Samba AD DC infrequently, this is a huge
trap. There should be a very visible warning on the AD DC setup wiki
page, that you *must* setup password policies with samba-tool, if
