Disk space and RAM requirements in docs
Hi,
Have anybody recently built LLVM in Debug mode /within/ space
requirements from the Getting Started doc?
https://llvm.org/docs/GettingStarted.html#hardware
> An LLVM-only build will need about 1-3 GB of space. A full build of
LLVM and Clang will need around 15-20 GB of disk space.
From my experience this numbers looks drastically low. On FreeBSD my
recent builds consumed more than

You didn't give me some packages, so now I'm giving you some! R, TexLive, LyX, Gnumeric, etc.
I want up-to-dateish versions of TexLive, R, gnumeric, emacs, but on a
more-or-less stable base of Centos-5.2. I asked for packages in this,
but got no answers. So now I've built them and will let you try them
if you want. I used the source packages from Fedora 8 and 9.
I wanted TexLive because many of us have jumped ship to Ubuntu Linux
8.04 and it does offer TexLive, and the compatability

Cross compiling - size of binaries is large
Hi,
I have cross compiled samba 3.3.8 for arm, which succeeded.
However, the size of the resulting binaries is large (few MB's per binary) so
the total installation of samba sums to over 50 megabytes, after stripping the
binaries.
For example, with samba 2.0.10, the size of smbd was 281 KB. With samba 3.3.8
that is 5.2 MB. Same goes for the other binaries. It looks as if there is a

Why is my rsync transfer slow?
Thank you. I will try your suggestions. First I will connect the NAS
directly to the computer (Do you recommend USB2 or 1 Gb Ethernet? Or
should I daisy chain external HD and NAS? Then it would look like this:
Computer <--FW800--> HD <--USB2--> NAS
The other option is
HD <--FW800--> Computer <--USB2 or Ethernet 1000Mbit --> NAS
But I still must say it is weird that

[PATCH 2/2] mllib: convert common_utils_tests to oUnit
Covert common_utils_tests to use oUnit as testing framework, replacing
the hand-made assert in favour of structured unit tests and better
error reporting.
common_utils_tests is now built only when the oUnit module has been
found.

Xapian index size 475GB = 170 million documents (URLs)
Xapians,
I am maintaining about two indexes for my search engines which
approximately is each the same size. I would like to share this
knowledge with you, since many of you have never seen Xapian index of
this size. And of course you can search the index by yourself at
- http://myhealthcare.com/

I need 2 x 100 million more documents into each index, and I hope it

Faster USB key booting?
I'm using syslinux for booting a thin client from USB key. It took just
over 1min (from reset button to 'Ready'), loading a 1.2M kernel and 2.0M
(approx.) initrd; about 55s of this was syslinux. Once the initrd
starts, it takes only about 1s to load the 5M image from the key, which
corresponds to the advertised 8MB/s read speed. This is using

[BUG?] Btrfs quota: overwritten space is counted twice
When data in a file is overwritten, starting somewhere in the middle of
the file, the overwritten space is counted twice against the space usage
numbers. Is this a bug, or did I something wrong?
This is what I did:
I create a subvolume and limit it to 4 MB, and create a 1000 KB file in
the subvol:
# btrfs subvol create s
Create subvolume ''./s''

syslinux 2.06, won't boot => kernel size pb?
Hi,
I'm currently trying to build up a booting usbstick. works fine with syslinux. However I have some troubles putting my own kernel image (bzImage) instead of that of a distribution (i.e. already compiled). The only difference I noticed is that the "pre-compiled" kernel is about 1.4M big whereas mine 1.5M. The Syslinux Homepage confirm that "this version [...] can now handle

Re: WinME command.com (was Re: Problems with Memdisk 2.04)
Hi,
I've got the same Problem. Not with WinMe but Win 98SE. But what I figured
out is,
that it doesn't realy apply to the Command.com rather to the Way the
BootImage was created.
It took me a long time to get my Hands on a Image with 2.8MB that's working.
Since creating one
my self, was allways failling. I downloaded the Bootutils 4.3 from 3com and
used the Imageedit tools.

Error with corCompSymm and lme fit for repeated measures

I need help with an error associated with corCompSymm in an lme fit.
I am using a mixed effects model to analyze a split-plot with
repeated measures and would like to fit with the compound symmetry
correlation structure. This problem doesn't occur when using
corAR1 or any of the other structures. I would greatly appreciate
help on how to solve this issue.

Re: WinME command.com
Hi..
Well i've tried each and every method to insert any winme command.com into
any bootable image and its really giving me problems....
I even further tested the same image with reinserting the 98 command.com and
the image worked just fine.. So acc to me the problem has to lie in me
command.com as there is no real mode dos in ME..
Also try using umbpci.sys and lowdma.sys for managing

Low Battery Problems
Hello,
I am having a heck of a time with false low battery alarms right now. It has been going on for the last couple of months. I originally started getting them with a UPS that was 1-2 years old so I thought it was time to change it out and buy a new one. I'm still getting the false alarms with the brand new one. The status is "OL LB" which is strange to me.
I have a
