GPO redirected folders reg path issue
We are not much off. But you have mixed "samba/window" and "windows/windows" settings. Samba/windows \\%logonserver%\home\%username%\desktop Windows/windows \\hostname.fqdn.tld\users\%username%\desktop Guess, which one i use. ;-) Now, do get where this is coming from. So use this (add CNAME for you member server ), Note, you MUST setup PTR records.

AD DC Corrupt recycle bin in redirected folders
Hi everyone, First off, I really don't know what to provide so please just ask what is needed. Here's what I think is relevant starting with a brief description: I have samba4 as AD DC for windows 10 clients. Roaming profiles are on a share on the DC and are working perfectly. However, redirected folder, also residing on the DC are not working as expected. I have yet to put my finger on

A setup on howto improve your samba network and simplify it. This is how i setup, sure looks dificult but its all about DNS setup and what you add to it. For AD-DC.s ( AD, TIME, NS, LDAP ) Hostname.FQDN.TLD : max 63chars, incl the .'s allowed chars: a-Z 0-9 - Hostname : sam-dc1.internal.domain.tld IP : what you need/want. ( example 192.168.1.11 ) PTR : 11.0.168.192.in-addr.arpa

Skipping RSAT
Good day gents, Just wanted to gather some thoughts on setting up samba ad dc with certain features that would typically call for / depend on RSAT and/or a windows desktop in general. I get it; you'll always have a desktop since the very purpose is to serve windows desktops (generally speaking). But I think it's fair to say most of us are using Linux desktops and burdened with running a

SAMBA AD DC Access Denied to Redirected Folders
Hi everyone, I'm re-posting this because my previous thread (see below) for whatever reason I cannot reply to. So I'm starting a new one in the hopes that I can respond to those who made suggestions and hopefully get to a solution. In a nutshell, I've got a SAMBA4 AD DC server running Debian 8 stable. It's setup for roaming profiles, home dirs and redirected folders. Randomly,

Samba4: Folder Redirection GPO not working with Windows 7
Hi I have folder redirection working fine in XP. I see that W7 has taken the same configuration as I made in XP. Here is a screenshot: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/45150875/gpo.png Unfortunately, on w7, whilst the roaming profile is correctly set, there is no folder redirection. Nothing appears in the \\hh1\USERS folder for the user who has logged in. Upon opening the GPO editor as Administrator

Redirected Folders not working for Desktop
I have a problem I've not been able to figure out. I'm using Samba4 as the office AD/DC. I've set up the Redirected Folders policy to redirect Desktop, Favorites and Documents to \\mail.hprs.local. I set this up months ago and it works great for Documents and Favorites, but Desktop is not redirected (no Desktop): $ ls -l /redirectedFolders/Users/thisuser/ total 16 drwxrwx---+ 10

Excluding redirected directories causes file deletion on logout...
Hi, Samba: samba-3.0.21 OS: OpenBSD I built a new WinXP (sp2 and fully updated) box with the the idea of making a Default User profile. I followed the directions in the "Making Happy Users" section of the Samba-3 By Example guide. http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/happy.html#redirfold Folder redirection is working, using the %LOGONSERVER%\profiles\%USERNAME%\

Pseudo-GPO Support for Samba
I have a bunch of W2K clients on my network and I want to be able to use GPOs, but REFUSE to go the M$ route ;-) Since GPOs are essentially registry entries, it might be somewhat easy to implement a simple program that could give admins that fine-grain control that is missing from NT4-style .pol files. What I would like to propose is a simple Win32 executable that could read from an

Redirected Folders not working for Desktop
Well, I've just added another directory to not make the redirected folders a the root. And, Favorites and Documents do work. Goog suggestion to check the Windows event viewer. I'll do that and get back with what I find. Thanks, --Mark -----Original Message----- > To: samba at lists.samba.org > From: James <lingpanda101 at gmail.com> > Date: Tue, 1 Sep 2015 08:14:06 -0400

AD accounts not available to OS
Hey guys, I'm setting up a Samba 4 AD DC server on Debian 8 (see pkg list below). Things are working relatively well except that I'm concerned that the domain accounts are not available to the OS. ie getent group "Domain Admins" returns nothing. I've implemented roaming profiles which is working very well but redirected folders are not and I'm thinking it's a
