Problem with ticket lifetimes of Linux clients authenticating to Samba 4 AD
Hi,
I've recently migrated an LDAP/Kerberos 5 setup to a Samba 4 based
Active Directory, mainly to support a couple of Windows clients. Since
this is a small private network, I've set quite long kerberos ticket
lifetimes in smb.conf on the DC. These work fine on the Windows clients,
but are somehow completely ignored on the Linux clients, where users
always get the default ticket lifetime

Samba AD with internal DNS: Can't resolve aliases anymore
Hi,
I've setup a Samba 4 based AD server a while ago and everything was
working fine for some time. However, since a few days it seems it
doesn't resolve aliases anymore. I can query them using the host
command, but a simple ping then fails to resolve the name:
% host alias1
alias1.altum.de is an alias for server1.
% ping alias1

Can't add new DC
Hello !
I'm trying to add new DC to my existent domain (18 Samba4 DC) but this time, domain join stuck after setting account password.
I have tried so many things but at this point, i really don't know what to do.
I can see the new dc111 computer object on smb4dc serveur but the object is disable.
If someone have an idea...
Best regards

rodc and KRB_TGS_REQ forwarding to RWDC to access hub ressources
Hi everyone,
I would like to have some input on ressources access from a workstation
logged on a RODC server that has to connect on hub site servers.
After login in the remote windows workstation, I have LOGONSERVER
environment variable set to the local RODC server (workstation and user
credentials have been preloaded). Everything works fine on local server.
However if I want to connect to

content of sam.ldb vs sam.ldb.d/DC=MYDOMAIN,DC=LAN
Hi everyone,
I am wondering what is the difference between the content in sam.ldb and
sam.ldb.d/DC=MYDOMAIN,DC=LAN.
In the two file I have my user entry:
# ldbsearch -H
/usr/local/samba/private/sam.ldb.d/DC\=TRANQUILIT\,DC\=LOCAL.ldb | grep
dn | grep CN=dcardon
dn: CN=dcardon,CN=Users,DC=tranquilit,DC=local

icecast ssl and letsencrypt renewal
Hi all,
I have setup icecast to work with letsencrypt ssl certificate, this works fine.
But now I am struggling a bit on how to renew the certificate every 3 months.
As per letsencrypt recommendation I run a cronjob to check for renewal every day,
problem is when there is a new certificate Icecast needs to be restarted to pick it up, as the certificate only seems to be loaded at startup of

no response received to oplock break request
Hi All,
My problem started with new server hardware and software update, also I
changed my network from 10 to 100Mb (New Cable and switches)
I have a problem with oplocks. I run Samba 2.0.10 (also tried 2.2.1a) on
Suse 7.1 Kernel 2.4. Several times a day I have an oplock error like this:
(request_oplock_break: no response received to oplock break request to pid

RHEL7/Centos7 with Samba AD
Hi All,
I know RHEL has bad press here but I'd like to share a different opinion
(works for me) and maybe share some of my settings.
BTW, Those views are my own, not those of my employer.
I run a small AD at home. The setup is as follows:
- two AD DCs (RHEL7.6 KVM virtual machines + Samba 4.8.7 rpms based on
SPECs from TranquilIT/Fedora).
- several Win10 laptops joined to the domain.

hosting emails at home
Thank you,
I remember to had a look at this project, and I found it huge.
I started mine because I want LDAP authentication.
I also wanted less features / programs, less obtrusive, and better
attention to small details, like automatic DKIM generation and DNS updates.
I hope not to end up with something as huge.

Hello to all Samba-users, and,
