split horizon and authoritative answers..?
I need to implement split horizon DNS, as I have just one external IP address (dynamic.lindenberg.one in external DNS) but multiple internal ones. External requests are distributed by port or using sniproxy (in particular 443), and all externally visible names are in a distinct zone then my domain, but with an additional indirection: names like backup.lindenberg.one resolve to CNAME

Samba public IP issue
Ok, and these 2 ipadresses, are these on one or 2 interfaces. ? (and keep cc-ing the samba list, this might also help others). ;-) What might help me. Get this script and run it: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/thctlo/samba4/master/samba-collect-debug-info.sh Anonymize data if needed and post the content to the list, not as attachment thats filtered out. That will give me most info i

See below, basicly what now happend is. This one line : > 127.0.1.1 gaia.rompen.local gaia <<<< CHANGE THIS Is what is your problem. Read throught the settings, you need a few changes. Its mostly good. After the changes, reboot the AD-DC. Then after its rebooted and after the changes for the member, reboot that also. Then is should be ok. Greetz, Louis >

smbd fails to start after upgrade to version 4.11.6
Roy, Im still wondering what your problem might be/where its coming from. But we know it's interface/network related, only thing is Samba should not coredump. So i had a good look below to see where im missing what. And i dont see much to work with. I have 2 possible options where, where a problem might be. 1) samba start before network is online. A possible workaround is add in all

Samba public IP issue
Hello, I am running two Samba Domain Controllers on as Ubuntu 18.04 VMs installed on two physical hosts. I've managed to bind them and to run the replication. My issues is that the private IP address is advertised and the replication fails. Even though I update the DNS entry? after a few minutes the changes are overwritten and the replication fails again. Can someone help me with this

split horizon and authoritative answers..?
Hai, Have you ever tried this with a systemd networking setup. I suggest you try this, this at least helped me with some split dns issues. Below shows how i did it. Configure you network with system, the configs.. #/etc/systemd/network/lan-dev.network # # Configure global settings in /etc/systemd/*.conf # # Dont forget : rm /etc/resolv.conf && ln -s /run/systemd/resolve/resolv.conf

No DNS domain configured
Hai, well, Close.. I see multiple errors which makes that DNS setup isnt working. We have multiple ways to setup networking these days, which also makes things more confusing.. - old style. /etc/network/interfaces - netplan /etc/netplan/00-installer-config.yaml - systemd /etc/systemd/network/lan-devX.network > > > probably isn't, if netplan is being used :-) > >

In addition to Rowland's comment. What i dont get here. Your running Debian Bullseye. (i hope not in production) You didnt update it. ( samba 4.9.13 is set and not the current one for bullseye (samba 4.11.1-2) Bullseye = testing, and believe me, testing has more problems then unstable.. So would start with running : apt-get dist-upgrade Then you configs, these dont look bad, but you

[Not Subcribed] Two-Interface sample file version - 2.0.1
Hello, I''ve "emerged" Shorewall 2.0.7 onto my Gentoo pc. Going through the 2 interface quickstart guide I download the 2.0.1 interface sample and untar it. "tar -zxvf two-interfaces.tgz" Maybe a dumb question but I can''t find anything on Google or the Shorewall mail archives that say anything about this. So I''m assuming its me. :P But the

Samba public IP issue
Most probely he is using public ip for webservers mail etc. But uses samba with private range to setup and control user/groups and he does not want to public ip and samba ip/ports to the internet. But still, this is a error, in my personal opinion, in the resolving setup. :-/ And thats why i hammer on a correct resolving setup. But he could also add VPN this setup, and will help in fixing

New to CentOS, is this a safe bet?
I know this may be a stupid place to ask, but I have to ask. I'm looking for a new Linux distro to use and support. I've been a loyal purchaser of SuSE Linux Pro for the last 3 years. I've paid my $90 loyally, in part because I wanted money to actually go to someone working on OSS, but also because I thought it was a good bargain, to get a quality, tested distro for that cost. The

Fitting data and removing outliers
What I'm trying to do is create best fit line in R for a set of data points and then remove all the outliers to re-create a best fit. I can't use IQR because the outliers I have in mind are easily within the range, but way out of line for the best fit, which is ruining the fit. I'd rather throw out those points all together. Thanks! [[alternative HTML version deleted]]
